While the swift development and production of a COVID-19 vaccine has been a remarkable success, it is equally crucial to ensure that the vaccine is allocated and distributed in a timely and efficient manner. Prior research on pandemic supply chain has not fully incorporated the underlying factors and constraints in designing a vaccine allocation model. This study proposes an innovative vaccine allocation model to contain the spread of infectious diseases incorporating key contributing factors to the risk of uninoculated people including susceptibility rate and exposure risk.

Inspired by a circular economy paradigm, an evolving momentum of policies and legislations aims to close the loop of product lifecycles through improved level of recycling, remanufacturing, and reuse, with the objective of adding value to the economy while not endangering the environment. However, the trade-off between the environmental and economic sustainability of designing business processes is inevitable. To address this trade-off in the supply chain context, competing objectives regarding both cost minimization and reduction in carbon emission should be simultaneously considered and integrated into a comprehensive model.

Efficient delivery of multiple resources for emergency recovery during disasters is a matter of life and death.
