L-citrulline (L-CIT), a precursor to L-arginine (L-ARG), is a key contributor to the nitric oxide (NO) signaling pathway. Endothelial dysfunction, characterized by deficient nitric oxide synthesis, is implicated in the pathogenesis of various neonatal conditions such as necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) associated pulmonary hypertension (PH). This review summarizes the current evidence around the possible role of L-CIT supplementation in the treatment of these conditions.

Autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) astrocytopathy is an immune-mediated inflammatory disease of the central nervous system, the clinical phenotype of which includes meningoencephalitis, myelitis, optic neuritis, seizures, movement disorders, autonomic dysfunction among others, affecting people across all ages. Due to its recent discovery, there is a paucity of literature on this topic and an absolute lack of Indian case series. Legionella species are Gram-negative intracellular bacteria that evolved in soil and freshwater environments, where they infect and replicate within various unicellular protozoa. The primary virulence factor of Legionella is the expression of a type IV secretion system (T4SS), which contributes to the translocation of effector proteins that subvert biological processes of the host cells. Bronchial involvement in pulmonary actinomycosis is rare and has been reported in the literature rarely. Donor human milk (DHM) from the human milk bank (HMB) is the next best alterative in circumstances when mother's own milk is not available. There was a steep decline in the volume of DHM collected during the coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic due to various factors, while DHM demand increased. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection triggers activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome, which promotes inflammation and aggravates severe COVID-19. Here, we report that SARS-CoV-2 induces upregulation and activation of human caspase-4/CASP4 (mouse caspase-11/CASP11), and this process contributes to NLRP3 activation. In vivo infections performed in transgenic hACE2 humanized mice, deficient or sufficient for Casp11, indicate that hACE2 Casp11-/- mice were protected from disease development, with the increased pulmonary parenchymal area, reduced clinical score of the disease, and reduced mortality.

The proposed sound synthesis tool converts a physics-based frequency-domain model of wind turbine trailing edge noise to a time-domain signal while accounting for the appropriate time shift due to the propagation between the moving blades and the fixed observer. A window function that implements cross-fading between consecutive signal grains is proposed and a method to objectively estimate the influence of the synthesis parameters is described. As the synthesis tool is independent of the aerodynamic noise model, it can be readily adapted to auralize other noise sources such as turbulent inflow noise or stall noise.

Immodulins are synthetic peptides derived from the C-terminal domains of insulin-like growth factor binding proteins (IGFBPs). Immodulins from the 3/5/6 (but not 1/2/4) IGFBP evolutionary clade transduce extracellular matrix (ECM) signals to RXR, NR4A1 and PPAR-alpha nuclear receptors (NRs) to stimulate novel macrophage lineages. The rationale of this study was to reconcile physical associations of immodulins with ECM and NRs, effects of siRNAs and chemical inhibitors in vivo, and immodulin-driven pro-differentiation effects in cell culture.
