[Four Cases of Other Iatrogenic Immunodeficiency-associated Lymphoproliferative Disorders in the Head and Neck Region].

Other iatrogenic immunodeficiency-associated lymphoproliferative disorders (OIIA-LPD) comprise lymphoid proliferations or lymphomas that arise in patients treated with immunosuppressive drugs for autoimmune diseases, especially rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treated with methotrexate (MTX). MTX has been increasingly administered to patients with RA, resulting in methotrexate-associated lymphoproliferative disorder (MTX-LPD) in patients. We report herein on four cases of patients with RA, who diagnosed with head and neck region.

Plasticity of the human vestibulo-ocular reflex during off-vertical axis rotation.

Objective: We investigated whether adaptive plasticity of the vestibulo-ocular reflex in humans occurs in response to visual-vestibular conflict stimulation during rotation about a 30° incline (off-vertical earth axis rotation, OVAR).

Methods: Subjects were 26 healthy adults (17 males and 9 females), ranging in age from 22 to 33 years (mean: 24.4) with no history of neurotological symptoms.

[A Case of Juvenile-Onset Laryngeal Papillomatosis Requiring Emergency Airway Management].

Juvenile-onset laryngeal papillomatosis has a serious tendency for rapid growth and repeated recurrence. Thus, patience and prudence are required for the successful management of this pathology. We report herein on 2-year and 4-month-old boy with juvenile-onset laryngeal papillomatosis, which caused remarkable airway constriction that required urgent airway management.

Temperature and nutrient availability control growth rate and fatty acid composition of facultatively psychrophilic Cobetia marina strain L-2.

A facultative psychrophilic bacterium, strain L-2, that grows at 0 and 5 degrees C as minimum growth temperatures in complex and defined media, respectively, was isolated. On the basis of taxonomic studies, strain L-2 was identified as Cobetia marina. The adaptability of strain L-2 to cold temperature was higher than that of the type strain and of other reported strains of the same species.
