Background: Mature teratomas are benign germ cell tumors. On rare occasions, they have been associated with somatic malignancies and are termed rare germ cell tumors with a somatic-type malignancy (GCTSM). Mature teratomas commonly comprise adenocarcinomas; only seven previous cases of mature teratomas with neuroendocrine tumors have been reported to date.

Background: The endothelium regulates vascular tonus by releasing nitric oxide (endothelium-derived nitric oxide, EDNO) and hyperpolarizing factor (endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor, EDHF). In vein grafts with poor runoff, lack of function of these factors causes severe intimal hyperplasia. This study evaluated how the functions of EDNO and EDHF are altered in artery grafts under poor runoff conditions.

Article Synopsis
  • - A 17-year-old male experienced right back pain and had a medical history of an emergency surgery for a left idiopathic hemopneumothorax.
  • - A chest X-ray showed a collapsed right lung and suggested pleural adhesion, leading to a diagnosis of right spontaneous pneumothorax.
  • - Surgical intervention was necessary due to identified pleural adhesion bands, as they pose a risk for hemothorax.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study investigates the relationship between intraluminal thrombus volume and the occurrence of type II endoleak and sac expansion following endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), highlighting a potential area for improved patient outcomes in those undergoing the procedure.
  • - Analysis included 280 patients who underwent EVAR, revealing that significant factors influencing sac expansion included older age, intraluminal thrombus volume ratio, and IMA diameter, impacting nearly half of the patients studied.
  • - Findings suggest that maintaining an intraluminal thrombus volume ratio above 51% may lead to better outcomes in terms of avoiding significant sac expansion, as indicated by statistical analyses during a 60-month follow-up period.

Rupture of the common bile duct because of blunt trauma is extremely rare. Preoperative diagnosis is very difficult because bile causes little peritoneal irritation. We present a case of a 19-year-old young woman with rupture of the common bile duct due to blunt trauma.
