Objective: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is essential for surgical downstaging of early-stage breast cancer, but taxane administration is associated with neuropathy. We investigated whether eribulin induces less neuropathy than paclitaxel.
Methods: In this multicentre, randomised study (UMIN000012817), patients diagnosed with invasive breast cancer between December 2013 and April 2016 were randomly assigned to group E (eribulin followed by fluorouracil, epirubicin, and cyclophosphamide; FEC) or group P (paclitaxel followed by FEC).

Introduction: Oncoplastic surgery has come into the limelight in the surgical treatment of breast cancer. In this report, we will introduce our challenge to apply oncoplastic surgery to a benign neoplasm like phyllodes tumor (PT).
Presentation Of Case: A 45-year-old female visited our hospital complaining of a rapidly growing lump on her left breast.
Background/aim: S-1, a 5-fluorouracil(5-FU) oral anti-cancer drug, has been traditionally used with a schedule of 4-week oral administration followed by 2-week rest for breast cancer treatment. We, herein, aimed to investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of a schedule of 2-week oral administration followed by 1-week rest for patients with metastatic breast cancer.
Patients And Methods: We enrolled patients with HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer who had not received prior chemotherapy.
Background: Clinical studies have shown that palbociclib improves progression-free survival in hormone receptor-positive (HR+), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-) patients with advanced breast cancer (ABC). Patients And Methods: A total of 391 postmenopausal Japanese women with estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer and treated with adjuvant anastrozole were enrolled from 28 centers for assessment of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in this prospective cohort study (SAVS-JP, UMIN000002455).
Purpose: The combination of capecitabine and paclitaxel (XP) has demonstrated synergistic antitumor activity in preclinical models. The purpose of this phase II study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a monthly XP regimen in patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC).
Methods: Eligible patients had received one or fewer prior chemotherapy regimens for MBC.
We evaluated the usefulness of the level of thymidylate synthase(TS)and dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase(DPD) activity as prognostic factors and indicators for selection of chemotherapy regimens. Between November 1997 and March 1999, fifty-seven patients with stages I - IIIa primary breast cancer were registered. Using recurrence risk categories, they were classified into TAM monotherapy, TAM+oral 5-FU, and TAM+CMF groups(each were standard regimens at the time), and underwent postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy.
