Sirt3 is a mitochondrial protein deacetylase functioning in energy metabolism, regulation of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, and aging. Although Sirt3 loss has negative effects on fertility of oocytes during in vitro fertilization and on progesterone production in granulosa cells, Sirt3's function in Leydig cells remains unclear. Therefore, we investigated Sirt3 activity in Leydig cells, focusing on androgen production.

Methods: One hundred and thirty-two clinical specimens were analyzed in this study.
Gastric-type adenocarcinoma (GA) is an aggressive subtype of cancer of the uterine cervix. Several immunohistochemical markers for gastric mucins, such as mucin 6 (MUC6) and N-acetylglucosamine α1 → 4galactose → R (αGlcNAc-R), which is recognized by HIK1083 antibody, have been introduced for diagnosis of GA and lobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia (LEGH). However, MUC6 is also expressed in normal endocervical glands and HIK1083 antibody has limited availability.

The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of RNA ISH in detecting lung adenocarcinoma (LA) with anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene rearrangement.
Methods And Results: We tested ALK RNA ISH on 11 resected LAs for which ALK fusion was confirmed by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and/or fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH).
Background: MUC4 is a transmembrane glycoprotein that plays a role in the cell growth signaling pathway and has been studied in various organ malignancies. This study aimed to analyze MUC4 expression in resected lung adenocarcinomas (ADCs) to define the clinicopathologic characteristics of MUC4-positive cancers.
Patients And Methods: Immunohistochemical MUC4 analysis was performed using tissue microarray slides containing 338 lung ADCs.
Aims: The lipogenic pathway is up-regulated in proliferating cells. However, the clinical impact of neoplastic steatogenesis in lung cancer is unclear. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the association of intracytoplasmic lipids with the clinicopathological features of lung adenocarcinoma (ADC), by immunohistochemical analysis of adipophilin (ADP), a coating protein found on intracytoplasmic lipid droplets.

Materials And Methods: A conventional T1 -weighted spin-echo sequence of the liver was performed using a 1.5T magnetic resonance imager with an 80-mm magnetic aperture for animal studies.
Background: Although Helicobacter pylori eradication is a first-line treatment of gastric MALT lymphoma, roughly 25% of patients do not respond to treatment. CD4⁺ FOXP3⁺ regulatory T (Treg) cells regulate immune responses in physiological conditions and various inflammatory conditions, including H. pylori-associated diseases.

Here, we report the case of a 72-year-old man diagnosed with primary signet-ring cell/histiocytoid carcinoma of the eyelid and present immunohistochemical analyses of the eyelid apocrine gland (Moll gland) and apocrine and eccrine sweat glands of perineum and axilla. Widespread infiltration of tumor cells with signet-ring cell or histiocytoid appearance was observed in his left eyelid, orbit, and periocular lesion.

Granulysin, a cytolytic granule protein, is expressed in cytotoxic T cells and NK cells, and is found in the sera as well, and functions as a cytotoxic and proinflammatory protein. Cytolytic proteins, such as granzyme B and perforin, have been shown to play crucial pathophysiological roles in NK/T cell neoplasms and have also been utilized for diagnostic purposes.

To determine the optimal melanin-bleaching conditions for histopathological examination, heavily pigmented melanomas were treated with warm hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) diluted with various diluents (1% disodium hydrogen phosphate 12H2O (Na2 HPO4); phosphate buffer 0.05 M, pH 7.

In the elderly group, nine (45%) patients had accumulations of lymphocytes, indicating an atrophied thymus with loss of the basic structure. The elderly MG patients with atrophied thymic tissues had higher titres of anti-AChR antibody (59.

To develop a tool for neovasculature-specific drug delivery, we isolated novel peptides homing to angiogenic vessels formed by a dorsal air sac method from a phage-displayed peptide library. Three distinct phage clones that markedly accumulated in murine tumor xenografts presented PRPGAPLAGSWPGTS-, DRWRPALPVVLFPLH- or ASSSYPLIHWRPWAR-peptide respectively.

Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections were examined for proliferating activity using histone H3 messenger RNA in situ hybridization (H3 mRNA-ISH) and immunostaining for the Ki-67 antigen. The relationship of the proliferative activity of endometrial cells to the immunohistochemical expression of the estrogen receptor (ER) and the progesterone receptor (PR) was also examined.
