Clinically amyopathic dermatomyositis during the COVID-19 pandemic.

An 84-year-old Japanese woman presented to our hospital with a month-long dry cough during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. She also had skin lesions on her fingers from 3 months prior. A chest computed tomography (CT) scan showed bilateral ground- glass opacities with a subpleural distribution, similar to the findings of COVID-19.

Gastric adenocarcinoma with chief cell differentiation.

A case of adenocarcinoma with chief cell differentiation, a novel entity in the stomach, is presented. An 82-year-old woman who had undergone distal gastrectomy, was scheduled for upper gastrointestinal endoscopy to clarify mechanical ileus. A protruding tumor 16 x 14 x 9 mm in size was found in the cardia of the remnant stomach.

Hyperlipemia of captive bottlenose dolphins during pregnancy.

In this study values for total cholesterol and triglycerides were measured in 110 blood samples taken from 360 days pre-partum to 90 days post-partum in ten parturitions of six bottlenose dolphins, and in 75 blood samples when the dolphins were not pregnant as a control group. The average total cholesterol values in the second, third and fourth stages and in the puerperium were significantly higher than the average value of the control group by 11.0%, 30.

Seasonal changes of blood composition in captive bottlenose dolphins.

To determine how blood values in bottlenose dolphins changed during the year, 504 blood samples were taken from 9 dolphins from 1991 to 1999 and clinical blood examinations were undertaken monthly including 3 hematological and 19 serum chemistry tests. In creatinine, significant seasonal changes were found among three groups of adult males, adult females and juveniles, and the average values in summer were 15-38% higher than those in winter. In two out of three groups the average total cholesterol value were highest in winter, and the lowest of all groups were in summer.
