Article Synopsis
  • Understanding the 3-D structure of the optic nerve head (ONH) is crucial for glaucoma diagnosis, and accurate quantitative reconstruction is necessary.
  • The proposed technique involves four key steps: cutting out the ONH from fundus images, registering stereo image pairs, detecting disparities, and calculating depth.
  • The depth measurements from stereo images aligned closely with those obtained using the Heidelberg Retina Tomograph (HRT), demonstrating that stereo fundus images are effective for assessing ONH depth for glaucoma diagnosis.

We have developed a computer-aided diagnosis system (CAD) to detect abnormalities in fundus images. In Japan, ophthalmologists usually detect hypertensive changes by identifying arteriolar narrowing and focal arteriolar narrowing. The purpose of this study is to develop an automated method for detecting arteriolar narrowing and focal arteriolar narrowing on fundus images.
