Long-term safety and effectiveness of velaglucerase alfa in Gaucher disease: 6-year interim analysis of a post-marketing surveillance in Japan.

Background: Gaucher disease (GD) is caused by reduced lysosomal enzyme β-glucocerebrosidase activity. Heterogeneous genotypes and phenotypes have been observed within GD types and across ethnicities. Enzyme replacement therapy is generally recommended for patients with type 1 GD, the least severe form of GD.

The occurrence rate of cerebrovascular and cardiac events in patients receiving antihypertensive therapy from the post-marketing surveillance data for valsartan in Japan (J-VALID).

It is well known that blood pressure (BP) management reduces the incidence of cerebrovascular and cardiovascular events. However, it is unclear how many of these events occur in hypertensive patients who receive pharmacological treatment. The aim of this survey was to evaluate the occurrence rate of both types of events in patients receiving valsartan-based treatment.

English version of the concluding report published in 2001 by the Advisory Committee on Atopic Dermatitis Severity Classification Criteria of the Japanese Dermatological Association.

The Japanese Dermatological Association established an advisory committee in 1995 to develop a severity scoring system for atopic dermatitis (AD). Its interim and concluding reports were published in Japanese in the Japanese Journal of Dermatology (108: 1491-1496, 1998 and 111: 2023-2033, 2001). Because of the strong demand for an English version, we have decided to publish the reports in English.
