  • A randomized controlled trial compared the effectiveness of semiocclusive dressing (SOD) using plastic wrap and low-adherent dressings versus occlusive dressing (OD) for treating stage III/IV pressure injuries in 77 participants.
  • Results showed that the SOD group had a greater reduction in wound surface area and better BWAT score improvements after 12 weeks than the OD group, with statistical significance.
  • SOD treatment was also significantly less costly, being 3 times cheaper than OD treatment, while showing a comparable incidence of adverse events.

Sleep is known to be essential for proper cognitive functioning. Sleep disturbance, especially respiratory disturbance during sleep, is a risk factor for the development of dementia. However, it is not known whether hypopnoea during sleep is related to severity of cognitive function in patients already diagnosed with dementia.
