Methods: Experimental dacryocystitis was induced by an inoculation of Staphylococcus aureus into the lacrimal sac. The histological changes of the inflamed lacrimal sac epithelium and associated lymphoid tissue were studied by light and electron microscopy.
Purpose: We describe four patients with idiopathic choroidal neovascularization (ICNV) who developed inflammatory chorioretinal diseases in the ipsilateral or contralateral eye.
Methods: The medical records of 58 eyes of 58 patients with an initial diagnosis of ICNV (age range, 19-49 years; mean, 34.9 years) were reviewed.
Background: We report surgical treatment of a patient with dacryocystitis and retinal detachment (RD), which are rare ophthalmic involvements of Wegener granulomatosis (WG).
Case: The patient was a 26-year-old man with WG. He was diagnosed as having WG 4 years ago and he has been treated by maintenance doses of predonisolone and cyclophosphamide.
Background: To evaluate the outcome of dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) for dacryocystitis caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
Cases: Four otherwise healthy patients with dacryocystitis caused by MRSA were studied (3 with chronic dacryocystitis; 1, acute dacryocystitis). Ophthalmic symptoms were epiphora with purulent discharge in 2 cases, with blepharoconjunctivitis in 1 case, and with lacrimal fistula in 1 case.
