In this paper, we create a hypothesis that integrated nutrient management (INM) acts as a source of energy for microbes and improves the physical, chemical and biological properties of soils, but the current understanding of how soil microbiomes interact in integrated nutrient management toward mediating climate stress to support sustainable rice crop production is limited.

Negative Pressure Wound Therapy with Instillation for Periprosthetic Infection after Breast Reconstruction: A Systematic Review.

Background: Periprosthetic infection after breast reconstruction is not uncommon and can result in loss of the implant pocket and negative patient outcomes. Management of these infections typically involves removal of the prosthesis, treatment with antibiotics, and delayed reconstruction upon infection resolution. The impact of adjunctive use of negative pressure wound therapy with instillation and dwell (NPWTi-d) on breast pocket salvage rates, time to implant reinsertion, and related outcomes was examined.

Gender, race, and economic factors influencing screening practices in hidradenitis suppurativa: a cross-sectional analysis.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that significantly impacts patients' quality of life. Despite its substantial burden, HS remains underdiagnosed and undertreated, particularly among marginalized populations. This study aimed to elucidate the primary social determinants of health (SDOH) and structural determinants of health (StDOH) influencing rates and patterns of screening for patients diagnosed with HS.

Following an outbreak of Cronobacter sakazakii infection in infant formula, the US Food and Drug Administration commissioned a series of reports and then undertook a major reorganization of its food program. This article describes the changes that went into effect on 1 October 2024, why those changes are likely to improve the new Human Foods Program, and additional work that must be undertaken to enhance the agency's impact upon public health.

A systematic review on the use of transforming powder dressing for wound care.

The transforming powder dressing (Altrazeal®, Uluru Inc, Addison, TX, USA) is simple to use, painless to apply and has a wear time of up to 30 days. This study aims to review the current literature to elucidate the impact of transforming powder dressing on healing, pain management and overall patient outcomes. We conducted a systematic review following Preferred Reporting Items of Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.

This paper aimed to describe another form of aggressive limited Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) revealed by dacryoadenitis. We report an unusually limited GPA in a 48-year-old man presenting with bilateral proptosis. She had never presented kidney or pulmonary manifestations, but her disease was persistently active including oto-rhino-laryngological manifestations, dacryoadenitis, and neurological manifestations unresponsive to corticosteroids and immunosuppressors.

[Aspirin and prevention of the recurrence of venous thromboembolism].

After a first episode of unprovoked vein thrombosis, the risk of recurrence persists for many years. Long term of anticoagulant therapy prevents the recurrence of vein thrombosis but is associated with a major risk of bleeding. As platelets play a role in the initiation and propagation of venous thromboembolism as well, antiplatelet agents, may play a role in the treatment and prevention of this disease.

Background: The placenta accreta spectrum is a complex disorder characterized by abnormal invasion of the placenta into the uterine wall, posing a significant risk of life-threatening haemorrhage for patients. Its incidence is on the rise, largely attributed to the increasing rates of caesarean sections. Management of this spectrum involves a multidisciplinary approach, although standardized protocols are not yet established.

Recurrent intra-cardiac thrombosis: A rare manifestation of Behçet's disease.

Behçet's disease is a systemic vasculitis characterized by recurrent bipolar aphtosis and ophthalmic disorders. Cardiac involvement is rarely reported and could be associated to poor prognosis. Intracardiac thrombosis is exceptional and represents a therapeutic issue.

Numerical and experimental investigation of heat transfer enhancement in double tube heat exchanger using nail rod inserts.

The Double-tube heat exchanger (DTHX) is widely favored across various industries due to its compact size, low maintenance requirements, and ability to operate effectively in high-pressure applications. This study explores methods to enhance heat transfer within a DTHX using both experimental and numerical approaches, specifically by integrating a nail rod insert (NRI). A steel nails rod insert, 1000 mm in length, is introduced into the DTHX, which is subjected to turbulent flows characterized by Reynolds numbers ranging from 3200 to 5700.

Structural, photoluminescence, and optical characteristics of a Sm -doped lead borate-strontium-tungsten glass system: Evaluation of Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters and radiative properties.

In this study, the melt quenching approach is used to synthesize a lead borate-strontium-based glass system doped with samarium ions. Modifications in the glass network structure arising from the addition of various concentrations of Sm ions were investigated via Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. FTIR analysis revealed B-O-B bridges, BO , and BO units are present.

Record-breaking heat waves intensified by climate change pose both environmental and health threats, necessitating a balance between urban sustainability and well-being. Extreme heat and limited green space access are drivers of obesity prevalence, with decreased proximity to green spaces correlating with higher rates of obesity in nearby communities. In contrast, access to such green spaces fosters physical activity, well-being, and community cohesion, especially crucial in marginalized communities facing health disparities due to historical policies like redlining and underinvestment in social gathering spaces.
