Article Synopsis
  • Accurately predicting preterm births is difficult, leading to a study that compares the effectiveness of cervical length assessment, contraction recording via cardiotocography (CTG), cervical funneling, and the Bishop score in forecasting preterm labor.
  • The study involved 371 women with singleton pregnancies who were monitored until childbirth, analyzing data from 218 participants using STATA software to determine the diagnostic performance of each method.
  • Findings revealed that CTG had the highest sensitivity for predicting imminent birth, while the Bishop score offered the best specificity and positive predictive value, indicating that cervical length testing also showed good predictive performance compared to the other methods.

A methodological and cross-sectional study was conducted in two tertiary levels of maternal hospitals in Tabriz.
