A water-soluble fluorescent sensor based on carbazole pyridinium boronic acid (CPBA) was designed and synthesized. Its structure has been confirmed by CHN and H and C NMR, FT-IR, and MS spectral data. Fluorescence studies of the synthesized chemosensor CPBA showed a selective ratiometric fluorescent response for glucose among different monosaccharides.

Objective: is an Iranian endemic plant used in Iranian traditional medicine.

Materials And Methods: The total phenolic and total flavonoid contents, and antioxidant potential of the methanolic extract of were determined. The MTT test was used to evaluate the inhibitory effect of the extract on the viability of A-375 cells.

A new colorimetric and fluorescent chemosensor for fluoride anion based on calix [4]arene bearing four sulfonamide-fluorenone subunits on the upper rim was conveniently synthesized. It showed a remarkable color change as well as the fluorescence quenching upon addition of F even in the presence of a wide range of anions in DMSO. The binding property of L with F was studied by a combination of various spectroscopic techniques, such as absorption and emission titration, Job's plot and H NMR titration.

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major health problem with an increasing global prevalence. It is usually associated with an imbalance between pro-oxidant mechanisms and antioxidant defenses, contributing to oxidative-stress, and this leads to an increased susceptibility to endothelial dysfunction, atherosclerosis, insulin-resistance and impaired-pancreatic β-cell function.

Objective: We have assessed the Prooxidant-antioxidant balance (PAB) and anti-hemolytic effect of Thuja orientalis L using the PAB assay and the analysis of hematological markers.

Microsatellites or simple sequence repeats (SSRs) are very effective molecular markers in population genetics, genome mapping, taxonomic study and other large-scale studies. Variation in number of tandem repeats within microsatellite refers to simple sequence length polymorphism (SSLP); but there are a few studies that are showed SSRs replication slippage may be occurred during amplification which are produced 'stutter products' differing in length from the main products. The purpose of this study is introducing a reliable method to realize SSRs replication slippage.

Ilex spinigera (Aquifoliaceae) plant is an evergreen tree or shrub with thick glossy dark green leaves and red fruits. This plant has medicinal properties and has been used traditionally in northern Iran for malaria treatment. The aim of this work is to evaluate the antioxidative activities and the inhibitory effect of I.

Functionalization of calix[4]arene with amidofluorene moieties at the lower rim led to formation of the 1,3-diconjugate of calix[4]arene L as a novel fluorescent chemosensor for Cu(2+). The receptor molecule L exhibited a pronounced selectivity towards Cu(2+) over other mono and divalent ions. The formation of the complex between L and Cu(2+) was evaluated by absorption, fluorescence and (1)H NMR spectroscopy.

Sugar alcohols, such as sorbitol, are commonly used as a replacement for sucrose in the food industry, applied as starting material for vitamin C synthesis, and involved as one of the causative factors in diabetic complications. Therefore, their detection and quantification in aqueous solution are necessary. The reversible covalent interactions between boronic acids and diols are the basis of efficient methods for the detection of saccharides.

Fluorescent boronic acids are very useful fluorescent sensor for detection of biologically important saccharides. Herein we synthesized a new fluorene-based fluorescent boronic acid that shows significant fluorescence changes upon addition of saccharides at physiological pH. Upon addition of fructose, sorbitol, glucose, galactose, ribose, and maltose at different concentration to the solution of 7-(dimethylamino)-9,9-dimethyl-9H-fluoren-2-yl-2-boronic acid (7-DMAFBA, 1), significant decreases in fluorescent intensity were observed.

Two fluorene-based boronic acids, 9,9-dimethyl-9H-fluoren-2-yl-2-boronic acid (1) and 9,9-dimethyl-9H-fluoren-2,7-diyl-2,7-diboronic acid (2), were synthesized and their sensing abilities for detection of D-monosaccharides were investigated by fluorescence at physiological pH. It was found that both boronic acids 1 and 2 have high selectivity and sensitivity for D-fructose with stability constant of 47.2 and 412.
