Article Synopsis

Phosphorus is essential for plant growth, but overusing P fertilizers leads to environmental pollution and low usage efficiency.
This study tested biochar-based fertilizers (BBFs) made from algae and hazelnut shells mixed with traditional triple superphosphate (TSP) to evaluate their slow-release capabilities.
Results showed that BBFs released phosphorus much slower than TSP, suggesting they could improve phosphorus use in crops, boost yields, and reduce the negative environmental impact of fertilizer runoff.
