Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the risk of lung cancer in incidental pulmonary nodules found on CT scans in patients aged 15-34, as the existing risk assessment for this age group was unclear.
  • The research included a review of 5,355 chest CT scans conducted between 2010 and 2018, narrowing down to 779 patients with pulmonary nodules, of which 690 had follow-ups.
  • Results indicated a very low malignancy rate of 0.3%, with only 2 cases of lung cancer, and highlighted that nodule size was a significant predictor of malignancy, particularly noting that no malignant nodules were smaller than 10 mm.

The Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System (O-RADS) ultrasound (US) risk stratification and management system was first published by the American College of Radiology in 2020. It provides standardized terminology for evaluation of ovarian and adnexal masses, aids risk stratification, and provides management guidelines for different categories of lesions. This system has been validated by subsequent research and found to be a useful diagnostic and management tool.

Objectives: Langerhans cell histiocytosis is an uncommon condition and it is unusual for it to present in children under one year of age. Our aim is to review the clinical presentation, and present the radiologic findings and clinical outcome in this particular cohort of patients and determine how this differs from the imaging features of older children presenting with LCH.

Materials And Methods: A database of 17 patients with LCH who presented between 0 and 12 months of age was retrospectively reviewed.

Aim: This is a retrospective study to review the treatment and management of patients presenting with odontogenic infections in a large urban teaching hospital over a four-year period, comparing the number and complexity of odontogenic infections presenting to an acute general hospital in two periods, as follows: Group A (January 2008 to March 2010) versus Group B (April 2010 to December 2011). The background to the study is 'An alteration in patient access to primary dental care instituted by the Department of Health in April 2010'.

Objectives: a) to identify any alteration in the pattern and complexity of patients' presentation with odontogenic infections following recent changes in access to treatment via the Dental Treatment Services Scheme (DTSS) and the Dental Treatment Benefit Scheme (DTBS) in April 2010; and, b) to evaluate the management of severe odontogenic infections.
