Background: Contraceptive continuation is an important factor that has significant implications on total fertility rates and reproductive health outcomes, like unintended pregnancies. Therefore, it is imperative to understand the factors that influence women's decision to continue the use of contraceptives. The present study examined the determinants of contraceptive continuation among women in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).

Coronavirus disease 2019 presenting as psychosis: a case report.

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 syndrome typically consists of respiratory symptoms and other general nonspecific symptoms. Psychotic manifestations of coronavirus disease 2019 attributable to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection are seldom reported. We report a case of coronavirus disease 2019 in a young West African male who had no known risk factors of psychiatric illness or past history of psychiatric disease presenting with acute psychosis.

Phylogenetic and antimicrobial drug resistance analysis of O1 isolates from Ghana.

We investigated the evolution, phylogeny and antimicrobial resistance of O1 isolates (VCO1) from Ghana. Outbreak and environmental sources of VCO1 were characterized, whole-genome sequenced and compared to globally available seventh pandemic (7P) strains of at SNP resolution. Final analyses included 636 isolates.

High rates of cerebral toxoplasmosis in HIV patients presenting with meningitis in Accra, Ghana.

Background: Data on adult meningitis among patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is scarce in western sub-Saharan Africa, including Ghana.

Methods: HIV-infected adults with a provisional diagnosis of meningitis were consecutively enrolled, between August 2014 and January 2016. After patient data collection, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was obtained and evaluated for microbiological aetiologies, cell counts and biochemistry.

The experiences of people with diabetes-related lower limb amputation at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Ghana.

Objective: Lower limb amputation not only causes major disfigurement, but renders people less mobile and at risk of loss of independence. Yet with appropriate rehabilitation, many people can learn to walk or function again and live high quality lives. This study sought to explore the experiences of patients with diabetes-related lower limb amputation at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
