Complications of central venous catheters during pregnancy and postpartum: a case series.

Objective: The objective of the study was to determine the incidence of central venous catheter-related complications during pregnancy and postpartum.

Study Design: This was a retrospective case series of patients admitted for obstetric care and who had a central venous catheter placed between Jan. 1, 2000, and July 10, 2006.

Exposure to UV light causes increased biotinylation of histones in Jurkat cells.

Biotin in breakdown products of biotinylated carboxylases serves as substrate for biotinylation of histones by biotinidase. Here we determined whether biotinylation of histones might play a role in repair of damaged DNA and in apoptosis. Jurkat cells were exposed to UV light to induce DNA damage.
