Bladder Scan Misleading a Vascular Emergency as Urinary Retention.

A middle-aged man arrives from a nursing facility to the emergency department with urinary retention and abdominal pain. A bladder scan was performed to identify the amount of urine in the bladder. Multiple attempts were made to place a urinary catheter without difficulty, but no urine was identified.

Clavicle Fractures.

Clavicle fractures are commonly seen in children and young adults. A case of a 30-year-old woman sustaining a clavicle fracture while riding a bike is highlighted. The most common cause is strong fall with the injured arm at one's side, often in contact sports injuries.

Finger dislocations are common injuries that are often managed by emergency nurse practitioners. A systematic physical examination following these injuries is imperative to avoid complications. Radiographic views, including the anteroposterior, lateral, and oblique views, are imperative to evaluate these finger dislocations.
