Context: Insulin resistance and a disturbed lipid profile are common associations with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and different skin diseases, particularly psoriasis (PsO).

Objectives: We investigated potential therapeutic mechanisms of metformin in a murine animal model of psoriasiform lesions in T2DM.

Materials And Methods: Forty-two rats were randomly divided into control, PsO, and type II DM (T2DM) groups.

Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted to investigate the impact of swimming exercise combined with melatonin on the behavioral and social deficits caused by cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats.
  • Sixty rats were divided into six groups, with some undergoing preconditioning exercises and melatonin treatment before and after experiencing I/R injury.
  • The combination of swimming and melatonin showed the most significant neuroprotective effects, reducing inflammation and oxidative stress, and supporting better social behaviors, linked to changes in a specific cellular signaling pathway.

The high levels of angiotensin II (Ang II) can modify the vascular tone, enhance vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) proliferation and hypertrophy and increase the inflammatory cellular infiltration into the vessel wall. The old herbal nonpharmacological agent, Hibiscus (HS) sabdariffa L has multiple cardioprotective impacts; thus, we investigated the role of HS extract in amelioration of renovascular hypertension (RVH)-induced aortic remodeling. Thirty-five rats (7/group) were randomly allocated into 5 groups; group: I: Control-sham group, and RVH groups; II, III, IV, and V.

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of triangular mesh reduction on the trueness of digitized complete-arch dentate and edentulous maxillectomy defects models.

Material And Methods: Twenty gypsum maxillectomy defect models (dentate and edentulous group: n = 10) were digitized using the Trios 3 intraoral scanner, scanning the teeth, mucosa and maxillectomy defect. These datasets (reference, R) were saved as standard tessellation language (STL) files, and triangular mesh reduction was performed using the Meshmixer reduction tool.

In the last few years, the northwestern coastal zone of Egypt has been affected by many stresses that impact its water resources, leading to undesirable consequences related to water quantity and quality. This paper aims to evaluate the possible contamination sources of shallow aquifers in the El-Omayed area, Egypt, that are causing its deterioration; this was achieved through an integration of hydrochemical and isotopic techniques, an assessment of the undesirable consequences of potential toxic metals (PTMs) on human health risk as a result of direct water consumption, and finally, the application of biological treatment in the remediation of some metal contamination. The chemical composition, environmental isotopes (δ O and δ H), and microbial analyses were analyzed from 13 collected water samples.
