Objectives: We sought to provide culturally competent, community-based respiratory health screening and education in minority communities with high concentrations of Latino immigrants on Long Island and to assess the impact of this intervention on their decision to seek medical care.
Methods: Seven health care screenings were performed in communities with high concentrations of immigrants from Latin America. A subgroup of participants who identified themselves as Hispanic/Latino were analyzed.
Objectives: Falls increase morbidity and mortality among nursing home residents and have varied causes and risk factors. The purpose of this study was to assess whether falls in nursing home residents were more prevalent at particular times of the day.
Design/participants: This study was a retrospective chart review for falls in a skilled nursing facility in New York from January to June, 2007.
