We studied the nature of the action of course treatment with argon and helium (1 min, 3 procedures) on the oxidative metabolism in rat blood plasma. The study was performed on 30 Wistar rats divided into 3 groups (n=10 in each group): intact and 2 experimental (treatment of the skin of the back with a stream of argon and helium, respectively). After completion of the treatment course, the intensity of free radical processes, the total antioxidant activity, and malondialdehyde concentration were evaluated in the blood plasma.

The generation of ozone and nitrogen oxides by laser-induced dielectric breakdown (LIDB) in mixtures of air with noble gases Ar, He, Kr, and Xe is investigated using OES and IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and absorption spectrophotometry. It is shown that the formation of NO and NO noticeably depends on the type of inert gas; the more complex electronic configuration and the lower ionization potential of the inert gas led to increased production of NO and NO. The formation of ozone occurs mainly due to the photolytic reaction outside the gas discharge zone.

We studied the effect of course exposure to argon cold plasma (ten 1- and 2-min procedures) on some parameters of the oxidative metabolism of rat blood plasma. The intensity of free radical processes, the total antioxidant activity, and malondialdehyde concentration in rat plasma were evaluated. It was found that 2-min exposure to argon cold plasma and nonionized argon stream produce a prooxidant effect, while 1-min exposure argon plasma led to stimulation of the antioxidant reserves of the blood.

The effects of helium cold plasma on some parameters of metabolism of rat erythrocytes were studied after a course exposure (10 daily procedures, 1 min each). The intensity of free-radical processes in erythrocyte membranes, malondialdehyde concentration, and aldehyde dehydrogenase activity were analyzed. The exposure to helium cold plasma led to a significant increase in malondialdehyde level mostly associated with inhibition of its utilization.

The effects of inhalation of singlet oxygen mixture, dry and humidified ozone-oxygen mixture, and ozonated oils on heart rate variability as well as on the rate and control mechanisms of microcirculation were examined in rats. The most optimal were the responses of systemic and regional hemodynamics to inhalation of the gas produced by a generator of singlet oxygen and humidified ozone-oxygen mixtures. Singlet oxygen stabilized the cardiac rhythm and augmented microcirculation via activation of "internal" (endothelial and neurogenic) regulatory mechanisms.

The dynamics in the oxidative and energy metabolism and enzyme systems of blood detoxification in animals with thermal trauma injected with dinitrosyl iron complexes was explored. The positive effect of dinitrosyl iron complexes on the state of blood pro- and antioxidant systems in animals with experimental thermal injury having profound oxidative stress is shown. This effect is observed as a considerable reduction of the intensity (normalization) of lipid peroxidation processes against significant elevation of antioxidant potential of blood plasma.

The interaction of cytochrome c with nitromedicines, such as 5-nitrofural, 5-nitroxoline, metronidazole and sodium nitrite which enables the generation of nitric oxide or nitrosyl complexes in the presence of ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate in acid medium has been investigated. The pharmaceutical compositions containing cytochrome c and nitromedicine complexes as active substances were studied in the experiments by using rats.
