The aromatic nucleophilic substitution reactions of the nitro group of 4-Nitro--alkyl-1,8-naphthalimides by thiolate anions produce fluorescent derivatives and their rates are strongly accelerated by micelles of hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride even at low pH. Acceleration factors of this reactions can reach million-fold. As the products are oxidant-insensible, this reaction allows the determination of SH- containing compounds such as cysteine, glutathione or proteins even in oxidative conditions.

The authors conduct a longitudinal study using the Moral Competence Test extended version before and after attending the ethics curricular unit, in three nursing schools and three medical schools of Portugal. In this study, we designed in silico a synthetic recombinant vaccine against visceral leishmaniasis (VL) called ChimeraT, which contains specific T-cell epitopes from Prohibitin, Eukaryotic Initiation Factor 5a and the hypothetical LiHyp1 and LiHyp2 proteins. Subcutaneous delivery of ChimeraT plus saponin stimulated a Th1 cell-mediated immune response and protected mice against infection, significantly reducing the parasite load in distinct organs.

Method: a methodological study that analyzed context and knowledge gaps with a literature review and brainstorming; synthesized knowledge into a concept map; built and validated a script; created a didactic design; and produced infographic media. 18 representatives from the Center for Permanent Education and Humanization participated in the stages of context analysis and synthesis of knowledge, and six specialists participated in the validation of the script.
