Background And Purpose: Residual axial and rotational deformities in tibial shaft fracture, after minimally invasive osteosynthesis (MIO) treatment, are widely described in literature. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of evidence about the malunion treatment strategies and results. The aim of our study is to present an innovative technique for tibial shaft malunion: a derotational proximal tibial osteotomy without removing the original plate (Plate-Retaining-Osteotomy: PR-Osteotomy).

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the repeatability of pelvic mobility measures (sacral slope and pelvic tilt) in non-arthritic patients with hip pain and positive impingement tests.
  • It found that the measurements for pelvic mobility had excellent reliability (ICC > 0.97) across different positions and movements.
  • However, pelvic incidence showed limited correlation with pelvic mobility measures, suggesting that pelvic mobility should be prioritized for diagnosing and treating hip pain rather than relying on pelvic incidence.

Background And Objective: Tapered fluted titanium stems (TFTS), were introduced to overcome proximal femur bone defects. They obtain stable fixation even in catastrophic proximal bone loss. Modular ones have the advantage to adjust length, rotation, off-set independently from the distal module.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the link between femoral version deformities and labral damage patterns in patients with femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), aiming to enhance understanding for better surgical treatment selection.* -
  • Researchers posed three main questions about the correlation between femoral version and labral cross-sectional area, the location of lesions related to femoral version, and differences in lesion patterns based on femoral version levels.* -
  • A total of 640 hips were initially evaluated, with 129 hips studied after excluding those with normal femoral version or incomplete imaging, focusing on comparing those with increased versus decreased femoral version and their corresponding labral characteristics.*

Introduction: Femoral neck fractures (FNF) are frequent injuries and not rarely complicated by non-union, implant failure, and avascular necrosis. Some of these fractures represent a dilemma for trauma surgeons. Which fracture should be fixed? Which replaced with a prosthesis? How? The aim of this narrative review is to investigate the literature in order to provide the most updated and evidence-based knowledge about FNF' treatment.

Staphylococcus aureus persistently colonizes the skin and nasopharynx of approximately 20% to 30% of individuals, with the highest rates in younger children. To avoid clinical problems for carriers and the spread of S aureus to other hospitalized patients, screening and decolonization of carriers undergoing surgery has been recommended. However, the best approach to patients undergoing clean surgery is not precisely defined.
