Neuromodulation Improves Stress Urinary Incontinence-Like Deficits in Female Rabbits.

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) affects a third of the female population and is characterized by involuntary urine leakage during abdominal efforts such as sneezing, laughing, or coughing. Acute neuromodulation of the bulbospongiosus nerve (BsN) was shown to increase bladder efficiency in aged and multiparous rabbits. This study investigates the efficacy of sub-chronic BsN neuromodulation in alleviating SUI-like deficits in mature multiparous rabbits, characterized by increased urine leakage and reduced leak point pressure Using the voiding spot assay, we observed a 40% reduction in urine leakage events after 30 days of BsN stimulation, which correlated with a 60% increase in daily micturition volume, a 10-fold increase in voided volume, and improvements in voiding efficiency and leak point pressure compared to negative control animals.

One essential component of a successful MASH IRP is a robust and reliable Clinical Research Network (CRN). Herein, we outline the required elements and anticipated steps to set-up such a CRN.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) typically develops as a consequence of liver cirrhosis, but HCC epidemiology has evolved drastically in recent years. Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), including metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis, has emerged as the most common chronic liver disease worldwide and a leading cause of HCC. A substantial proportion of MASLD-associated HCC (MASLD-HCC) also can develop in patients without cirrhosis.

We determined the effect of sucrose-water consumption during pregnancy-lactation and postnatal on reflex responses and morphology of Bsm fibers in adult male Wistar rat offspring. Female rats were mated and grouped into consumed tap water mothers and sucrose-water (5 %) mothers during pregnancy-lactation to obtain experimental groups.

In this study, we developed functionalized polymeric micelles (FPMs) loaded with simvastatin (FPM-Sim) as a drug delivery system to target liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) for preserving liver function in chronic liver disease (CLD). Polymeric micelles (PMs) were functionalized by coupling peptide ligands of LSEC membrane receptors CD32b, CD36 and ITGB3. Functionalization was confirmed via spectroscopy and electron microscopy.

However, little is known about inter-litter differences in pup activity patterns during early postnatal life, in particular regarding the drivers of such variation.
