[Recommendations Not to do in rehabilitation and physical medicine: a compilation from different fields of intervention].

Introduction And Objective: Certain medical practices, both diagnostic and therapeutic, that have not been proven to be effective and do not add value to healthcare, are not uncommon. The aim of this document is to provide a list of «Not to do» recommendations in the medical specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Material And Method: For the development of this project, which is coordinated by the Vocalía de Sociedades Filiales, Sociedades Autonómicas y Grupos de Trabajo de la Sociedad Española de Rehabilitación (SERMEF), specific recommendations are requested from Grupos de Trabajo and Sociedades Filiales of each specific field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as experts in the corresponding intervention areas.

Safety and effectiveness of thermal radiofrequency applied to the musculocutaneous nerve for patients with spasticity.

Objective: Evaluate safety and effectiveness of thermal radiofrequency in the musculocutaneous nerve in patients with focal elbow flexor spasticity.

Design: Ambispective observational follow-up study. Patients with focal spasticity secondary to central nervous system injury with elbow flexor pattern who received thermal radiofrequency treatment in the musculocutaneous nerve between 2021 and 2023 were included.

[Entrapment syndromes of the intercostal nerve and its branches].

Musculoskeletal chest pain poses a broad differential diagnosis, among which intercostal nerve involvement stands out. Its entrapment or that of any of its branches can resemble visceral pain and therefore can easily go unnoticed. With a good examination and the use of dynamic ultrasound, the diagnostic approach can be simpler.

Functional Recovery and Serum Angiogenin Changes According to Intensity of Rehabilitation Therapy After Stroke.

Rehabilitation is still the only treatment available to improve functional status after the acute phase of stroke. Most clinical guidelines highlight the need to design rehabilitation treatments considering starting time, intensity, and frequency, according to the tolerance of the patient. However, there are no homogeneous protocols and the biological effects are under investigation.

[Radial nerve entrapment in the spiral groove. Nerve block as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool].

The radial nerve has a long and sinuous course in the upper limb from the axilla to the hand and fingers. There are several possible areas of compression along this trajectory, the most frequent being on the Arcade of Frohse, with entrapment of its terminal nerve, the posterior interosseous nerve. We report the case of a patient with radial nerve entrapment in the spiral groove and describe how ultrasound and nerve blocks could be useful in diagnosis and treatment.

[Bromocriptine in disorders of consciouness due to traumatic brain injury].

Introduction: The aim of this study was to assess the results and adverse effects of bromocriptine in patients with traumatic brain injury-vegetative state (TBI-VS) or traumatic brain injury-minimally conscious state (TBI-MCS).

[Early pharmacologic treatment with botulinum toxin A in post-stroke spasticity: consensus evidence-based recommendations].

Spasticity is a common complication that occurs in those patients that have suffered a stroke. To identify those patients at high risk of having post-stroke spasticity and to start treatment at early stages would probably benefit the patient.
