The current quality control of the dry-curing process in Iberian ham is performed with an olfactory evaluation by ham experts. The present study proposes to monitor the dry-curing process of Iberian ham using an objective analytical methodology that involves non-destructive sampling of the subcutaneous fat of the hams and a volatile profile analysis using gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry. Thirty-eight 100% Iberian acorn-fed hams were examined in total, with eighteen hams monitored during the post-salting stage and twenty during the drying-maturation stage.

Surgical navigation via mixed reality (MR) can help achieve precise wire placement in a low-profile form factor. Methods: We conducted a multicenter prevalence study from January 2022 to January 2023 in Spanish PICUs. The method of data collection was by direct observation, review of the patient's medical history, and asking the professionals involved in the patient's care.
Objectives: Tooth preparation is complicated because it requires the preparation of an abutment while simultaneously predicting the ideal shape of the tooth. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a system using augmented reality (AR) head-mounted displays (HMDs) that provide dynamic navigation capabilities for tooth preparation.
Methods: The proposed system utilizes optical see-through HMDs to overlay digital information onto the real world and enrich the user's environment.
Objectives: To determine the intention to use physical restraint (PR) and the relationship with sociodemographic and professional variables of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nurses.
Research Methodology/design And Setting: A multicentre and correlational study was carried out from October 2021 to December 2023 in five paediatric intensive care units from five maternal and child hospitals in Spain. The Paediatric Physical Restraint-Theory of Planned Behaviour Questionnaire was provided.
Background: Physical restraint is applied in pediatric intensive care units to carry out certain painful procedures and to ensure the maintenance and continuity of life support devices. There is a need to analyse the factors that influence the behaviour or intention to use physical restraint.
Aim: To create and test psychometrically a paediatric version of the Physical Restraint-Theory of Planned Behaviour Questionnaire to assess paediatric critical care nurses' intention to use physical restraint.
In natural viewing conditions, the brain can optimally integrate retinal and extraretinal signals to maintain a stable visual perception. These mechanisms, however, may fail in circumstances where extraction of a motion signal is less viable such as impoverished visual scenes. This can result in a phenomenon known as autokinesis in which one may experience apparent motion of a small visual stimulus in an otherwise completely dark environment.

Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head (ONFH) is a progressive disease characterized by the death of bone cells due to the loss of blood supply. Robotic X-ray C-arm imaging systems can precisely achieve any position and orientation relative to the patient. Informing the system, however, what pose exactly corresponds to a desired view is challenging. The use of Augmented Reality (AR) for navigation purposes has shown beneficial in assisting physicians during the performance of surgical procedures. These applications commonly require knowing the pose of surgical tools and patients to provide visual information that surgeons can use during the performance of the task. This paper defines the basic components of any Augmented Reality (AR) solution and extends them to exemplary Medical Augmented Reality Systems (MARS). We use some of the original MARS applications developed at the Chair for Computer Aided Medical Procedures and deployed into medical schools for teaching anatomy and into operating rooms for telemedicine and surgical guidance throughout the last decades to identify the corresponding basic components.

In this work, the authentication of the highly appreciated dry-cured Iberian ham by those techniques was studied and compared. The results obtained show the suitability of a non-destructive sampling method coupled to headspace sampling (HS)-GC-IMS or HS-GC-MS to determine volatile markers in the feeding Iberian pig regime.
