Unlabelled: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) causes significant morbidity in patients with trauma despite advances in pharmacologic therapy. Prior literature suggests standard enoxaparin dosing may not achieve target prophylactic anti-Xa levels. We hypothesize that a new weight-based enoxaparin protocol with anti-Xa monitoring for dose titration in critically injured patients is safe and easily implemented.

Purpose: The posterior tibial slope (PTS) has different biomechanical effects on the knee. Especially in revision ACL reconstruction, a precise analysis is essential. Therefore, we investigate the influence of the anterior tibial bowing angle on the posterior slope measurement.

Summary Background Data: PC is an orphan malignancy for which diagnostic workup and treatment is not established.
Objective: Although a national Personal Health Record (PHR) infrastructure was supposed to have been introduced in Germany by law in 2006 and different providers are entering the market, no system has yet been widely adopted in Germany. There is also little information available on how current technical advancements affect German patients' and physicians' trust in PHR systems.
Methods: Supporting scenarios obtained from clinicians, this study proposes a concept for a German PHR system using a public cloud infrastructure, smartphone access and focusing on trust, privacy, and interoperability.
Prevalence of gastroschisis, a serious birth defect of the abdominal wall resulting in some of the abdominal contents extending outside the body at birth, has been increasing worldwide (1,2). Gastroschisis requires surgical repair after birth and is associated with digestive and feeding complications during infancy, which can affect development. Recent data from 14 U.

It is highly heritable, but the underlying genes remain largely undetermined. In a genome-wide association study of 32,438 adults, we discovered five previously unknown loci for intracranial volume and confirmed two known signals.

In Germany USUV was initially discovered in wild birds, mainly Common blackbirds (Turdus merula), in the Upper Rhine valley in southwest of the country in 2011 and has not spread much northwards since. Phylogenetic analyses revealed that the still ongoing USUV epidemic is caused by two different USUV strains, USUV-Germany belonging to the USUV Europe 3 lineage and USUV-Bonn belonging to the USUV Africa 3 lineage.

Subcortical brain regions form circuits with cortical areas to coordinate movement, learning, memory and motivation, and altered circuits can lead to abnormal behaviour and disease. To investigate how common genetic variants affect the structure of these brain regions, here we conduct genome-wide association studies of the volumes of seven subcortical regions and the intracranial volume derived from magnetic resonance images of 30,717 individuals from 50 cohorts.

This surge was first and foremost due to an increase of prognostically favorable ("low risk") papillary thyroid microcarcinomas, for which limited surgical procedures are often sufficient without loss of oncological benefit. These developments called for an update of the previous practice guideline to detail the surgical treatment options that are available for the various disease entities and tumor stages.

Immunoprecipitations from neonatal and adult hippocampal extracts suggest that while both beta-spectrin and beta-fodrin form heteromers with alpha-fodrin, oligomers containing all three subunits are also present.
