Hybrid samples combining superconductors with magnetic topological insulators are a promising platform for exploring exotic new transport physics. We examine a Josephson junction of such a system based on the dilute magnetic topological insulator (Hg,Mn)Te and the type II superconductor MoRe. In the zero and very low field limits, to the best of our knowledge, the device shows, for the first time, an induced supercurrent through a magnetically doped semiconductor, in this case, a topological insulator.

In Josephson junctions, a supercurrent across a nonsuperconducting weak link is carried by electron-hole bound states. Because of the helical spin texture of nondegenerate topological surface states, gapless bound states are established in junctions with topological weak link. These have a characteristic 4π-periodic current phase relation (CΦR) that leads to twice the conventional Shapiro step separation voltage in radio frequency-dependent measurements.

We have studied the transport properties of LaTiO/SrTiO(LTO/STO) heterostructures. In spite of 2D growth observed in reflection high energy electron diffraction, Transmission Electron Microscopy images revealed that the samples tend to amorphize. Still, we observe that the structures are conducting, and some of them exhibit high conductance and/or superconductivity.

Thin layers of topological insulator materials are quasi-2D systems featuring a complex interplay between quantum confinement and topological band structure. To understand the role of the spatial distribution of carriers in electrical transport, the Josephson effect, magnetotransport, and weak anti-localization are studied in bottom-gated thin Bi Te topological insulator films. The experimental carrier densities are compared to a model based on the solutions of the self-consistent Schrödinger-Poisson equations and they are in excellent agreement.

In this Letter we report on proximity superconductivity induced in CdTe-HgTe core-shell nanowires, a quasi-one-dimensional heterostructure of the topological insulator HgTe. We demonstrate a Josephson supercurrent in our nanowires contacted with superconducting Al leads. The observation of a sizable I R product, a positive excess current, and multiple Andreev reflections up to fourth order further indicate a high interface quality of the junctions.
