Soleus muscle injuries are frequently unrecognized, representing a common cause of sports inactivity. This is mainly because little is known about the anatomy of the soleus muscle and the clinical manifestations of injury. Unlike other muscles, the soleus muscle has a complex myoconnective structure with three intramuscular tendons, which makes the interpretation of muscle pathologic conditions challenging.
