Inbreeding in the Zwartbles breed population and its influence on meat production in the Czech Republic.

The aim of this study was to estimate the inbreeding coefficient in the Zwartbles sheep population in the Czech Republic, as well as to investigate the effect of inbreeding on meat yield indicators. The analysis used data on the entire population since 1997, with the original database containing 13 150 animals. In this population, the average inbreeding coefficient is 3.

Absolute frequencies of HCN hydrogen cyanide transitions in the 1.5-µm region with the saturated spectroscopy and a sub-kHz scanning laser.

The wide span and high density of lines in its rovibrational spectrum render hydrogen cyanide a useful spectroscopic media for referencing absolute frequencies of lasers in optical communication and dimensional metrology. We determined, for the first time to the best of our knowledge, the molecular transitions' center frequencies of the HCN isotope in the range from 1526 nm to 1566 nm with 1.3 × 10 fractional uncertainty.

The efficiency of different types of extenders for semen cooling in stallions.

Objective: This study was conducted to examine influence of skimmed milk-based extender (SM), INRA 96 extender and BotuSemen Gold extender on parameters of stallions' ejaculate during storage.

Methods: In this study, 14 stallions between 4 and 20 years of age were monitored. Total and progressive motility, viability and morphology of sperm were evaluated at time intervals of 24, 48, and 72 hours after collection.

The needs of professionals in the palliative care of children and adolescents.

Unlabelled: The main objectives of this qualitative study were to describe the perceptions and needs of pediatric health care professionals (HCPs) taking care of children with palliative care needs and to develop a concept for the first Center of Competence for Pediatric Palliative Care (PPC) in Switzerland. Within two parts of the study, 76 HCPs were interviewed. The main interview topics were: (1) definition of and attitude toward PPC; (2) current provision of PPC; (3) the support needs of HCPs in the provision of PPC; and (4) the role of specialized PPC teams.
