Introduction: The monoclonal antibody therapies bamlanivimab (BAM) + etesevimab (ETE) received emergency use authorization (EUA) from the US Food and Drug Administration (February 9, 2021) for treatment of mild-to-moderate COVID-19. The EUA of BAM + ETE was revoked (December 14, 2023) due to the high prevalence of BAM + ETE-resistant variants of SARS-CoV-2. Efficacy and safety of 700/1400 mg and 2800/2800 mg BAM + ETE are well established and published; however, efficacy and safety of 350/700 mg BAM + ETE have not been disclosed to date.

In the current study, two molds, Aspergillus flavus (ACC# LC325160) and Penicillium chrysogenum (ACC# LC325162) were inoculated into two types of wood to be examined using scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX) and computerized tomography (CT) scanning. Ficus sycomorus, a non-durable wood, and Tectona grandis, a durable wood, were the two wood blocks chosen, and they were inoculated with the two molds and incubated for 36 months at an ambient temperature of 27 ± 2 °C and 70 ± 5% relative humidity (RH). The surface and a 5-mm depth of inoculated wood blocks were histologically evaluated using SEM and CT images.

Introduction: Bamlanivimab and etesevimab (BAM + ETE) are monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) effective in reducing COVID-19-related hospitalizations and all-cause mortality in adult participants at increased risk for severe disease. We present pharmacokinetic (PK), efficacy, and safety results from pediatric participants (< 18 years of age) with COVID-19 who were treated with BAM + ETE.

Methods: In an addendum to the phase 2/3 BLAZE-1 clinical trial (NCT04427501), pediatric participants received open-label weight-based dosing (WBD, n = 94) based on exposure-matching to the authorized dose of BAM + ETE in adult participants.

Commercial wood adhesives are based on products that contain formaldehyde; however, environmental and health concerns about formaldehyde emissions from wood products have influenced research and development efforts in order to find alternative, formaldehyde-free products for wood adhesives. In this work, different soy protein-based wood adhesives are proposed, and their performance is compared to commercial urea formaldehyde (UF) adhesive. Inelastic neutron scattering measurements on the molecular dimer-Mott insulator κ-(BEDT-TTF)_{2}Cu[N(CN)_{2}]Cl reveal a phonon anomaly in a wide temperature range. Starting from T_{ins}∼50-60  K where the charge gap opens, the low-lying optical phonon modes become overdamped upon cooling towards the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature T_{N}=27  K, where also a ferroelectric ordering at T_{FE}≈T_{N} occurs. Conversely, the phonon damping becomes small again when spins and charges are ordered below T_{N}, while no change of the lattice symmetry is observed across T_{N} in neutron diffraction measurements.

Lung cancer, with its most prevalent form non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC), is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide, and is commonly treated with chemotherapeutic drugs such as cisplatin. Lung cancer patients frequently suffer from chemotherapy-induced anemia, which can be treated with erythropoietin (EPO). However, studies have indicated that EPO not only promotes erythropoiesis in hematopoietic cells, but may also enhance survival of NSCLC cells.

The same pathway, such as the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway, can produce different cellular responses, depending on stimulus or cell type. We examined the phosphorylation dynamics of the MAPK kinase MEK and its targets extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1 and 2 (ERK1/2) in primary hepatocytes and the transformed keratinocyte cell line HaCaT A5 exposed to either hepatocyte growth factor or interleukin-6. By combining quantitative mass spectrometry with dynamic modeling, we elucidated network structures for the reversible threonine and tyrosine phosphorylation of ERK in both cell types.

The presented project shows the effects of a gerontological psychiatric consulting and liaison service (C&L) on nursing home residents and the care team. The implementation of the C&L was evaluated using a quasi-experimental design in longitudinal section of residents', nursing, medical and family perspective using quantitative and qualitative methods. The results provide evidence for the positive effects of C&L especially in relation to the "common action" within the care team.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of intra-articular tranexamic acid (TXA) on blood loss after total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

Methods: Medical records of 73 men and 93 women (mean age, 68 years) who underwent primary TKA for osteoarthritis and received intra-articular TXA 1500 mg (n=56) or 3000 mg (n=56) or not at all (n=54) were reviewed. Reduction in haemoglobin levels on days 1 and 2 was measured, as were the rates of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and blood transfusion.
