Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive type of breast cancer. While most TNBCs are initially sensitive to chemotherapy, a substantial fraction acquires resistance to treatments and progresses to more advanced stages. Here, we identify the spliceosome U2 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein particle (snRNP) complex as a modulator of chemotherapy efficacy in TNBC.

The aim of this study was to create a post-NEoadjuvant Score System (pNESSy) to choose surgery, optimizing oncological and aesthetical outcomes.
Methods: Patients (stage I-III) underwent surgery post-NACT (breast-conserving surgery (BCS), oncoplastic surgery (OPS), and conservative mastectomy (CMR) were included.
Innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) are classified by the expression of specific transcription factors: ILC1 depending on T-bet for IFN-γ production; ILC2 depending on GATA3 for IL-5 and IL-13; and ILC3 depending on ROR-γτ and AHR for IL-17 and IL-22. This study aimed to determine circulating ILCs in 23 patients with localized (LCL) = 7, mucocutaneous (MCL) = 10, intermediate (ICL) = 3 and diffuse (DCL) = 3 cutaneous leishmaniasis and 17 healthy controls from endemic area (EC) = 9 and non-endemic area (HC) = 8. Results evidenced a higher proportion of ILC1 in LCL than controls and MCL.

Introduction: Nipple-sparing mastectomy is an oncologically validated technique for selected breast cancer patients and allows to improve aesthetic results and patients' quality of life. Conventional skin incisions are often a suboptimal solution due to the visibility of the scars. Aim of this work is to show our innovative technique, which allows to perform nipple-sparing mastectomy, lymph-node surgery, and endoscopic immediate prosthetic breast reconstruction using a single cosmetic axillary incision.

Less than 15% of all breast cancers are associated with germline genetic mutations. The majority of hereditary breast tumors are due to mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes that are responsible for only one third of hereditary cases.

Although large clinical trials have shown no differences between the same systemic therapy given pre- or post-surgery on diseasefree and overall survival, neoadjuvant therapy may have several advantages. By downstaging of the tumor, chemotherapy can convert patients who are candidates for mastectomy to breast-conserving surgery candidates.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and economic impact of efavirenz (EFV) dose adjustment by monitoring plasma concentrations and pharmacogenetic analysis of the 516G>T CYP2B6 polymorphism.
Materials & Methods: One hundred and ninety HIV patients treated with EFV were studied.
We characterized key leukocyte immunophenotypes in the liver and spleen of naturally infected dogs from an area in Venezuela endemic for leishmaniasis. Dogs were classified as symptomatic or asymptomatic after serologic and physical analysis. Symptomatic dogs showed a higher parasite burden in the liver and spleen than asymptomatic dogs.
