Perinatal mental health and recommendations for integral care in gyneco-obstetric hospitals.

Mental health is defined as the ability by which individuals recognize their own abilities and cope with the normal stress of life, work productively and fruitfully, contribute to their communities and enjoy the greatest possible well-being. Therefore, it is essential as a part of the health of the individual and its constant evaluation. Recently, special attention has been drawn to the study of the mental health of women, given the greater probability to suffer depression and anxiety disorders during and after pregnancy.

Leadership problems in the management of health institutions.

In health institutions, physicians or other health professionals frequently occupy senior management positions, usually without any administrative expertise. In such a way that an excellent clinician can become a lousy leader and administrator. In this article, the administrative and organizational consequences of a bad exercise of leadership are displayed, interpreting the phenomenon from the classical and contemporary theories of leadership and exposing the problems that top management in health frequently faces in hospitals.

Pelvic packing with vaginal traction for the management of intractable hemorrhage.

Objective: To present clinical cases examining the effectiveness and safety of pelvic packing with vaginal traction for inhibiting obstetric hemorrhage among women receiving treatment at a public obstetrics and gynecology tertiary care hospital in Mexico.

Methods: In a retrospective observational descriptive study, eight cases of obstetric hemorrhage treated by pelvic packing with vaginal traction between January 2012 and December 2013 at Hospital de la Mujer, Mexico City, Mexico, were reviewed.

Results: The mean patient age was 28.

The combination of naproxen and citral reduces nociception and gastric damage in rats.

It has been shown that the association of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs with plant extracts can increase their antinociceptive activity, allowing the use of lower doses and, thus, limiting side effects. Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine the effects of the interaction between naproxen and citral on nociception and gastric injury in rats. Naproxen, citral, or combinations of naproxen and citral produced an antinociceptive effect.

Spasmolytic and anti-inflammatory effects of Aloysia triphylla and citral, in vitro and in vivo studies.

Aloysia triphylla is traditionally utilized for the treatment of menstrual colic (primary dysmenorrhea) in Mexico. Citral is the main chemical component found in Aloysia triphylla leaves extract. Primary dysmenorrhea is a very frequent gynecological disorder in menstruating women, affecting 30-60% of them.
