This study aims to examine the effectiveness of mycocins produced by Wickerhamomyces anomalus in inhibiting Malassezia pachydermatis, a yeast commonly found in the ear canal of dogs. M. pachydermatis has a zoophilic origin and can be found in mammals, and frequently in dogs, where it mainly colonizes the ear canal region and the skin, leading to lesions that are difficult to treat.

Its 41,522 bp circularly permuted genome contains 63 putative protein-coding genes. Based on gene content similarity, Garey24 was assigned to subcluster EA1.

It can be considered very similar to a terminal cancer disease, reflecting a large impact on quality of life and healthcare costs. The aim of this study is to offer an overview of the relationship between CLTI, limb salvage, and mortality, with a focus on the need of a fast-track team-based management that is a driver to achieve better survival results.

These vasculopathies are often asymptomatic or paucisymptomatic before manifesting themselves with dramatic complications. Therefore, early detection of ADs is fundamental to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular and limb events.

Unfortunately, these vessels are often found to be unsuitable in atherosclerotic patients due to the presence of calcifications or to insufficient size. Synthetic grafts composed of materials such as expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) are frequently employed as second choice, because of their widespread availability and success in the reconstruction of larger arteries.

However, while much has been done for the prevention, early diagnosis, therapy of AMI and stroke, the same cannot be said for PAD, which is a negative prognostic indicator for cardiovascular death. Acute limb ischemia (ALI) and chronic limb ischemia (CLI) are the most severe manifestations of PAD.

To increase the flight range of this kind of vehicle, the weight has to be reduced as much as possible. A possible element that can be worked on is the coating of the combustion chamber: the skirt.

Methods: Multicenter/retrospective/observational study. A database was sent to all the Italian vascular surgeries to collect all the patients operated on for CLTI in 2019.
Background: The study aimed to assess the 24-month safety and effectiveness of a new generation drug-coated balloon (DCB) (Elutax; AR Baltic Medical, Vilnius Lithuania-also marketed as Emperor in some European countries; Aachen Resonance, Germany, and AB Medica, Italy) for the treatment of patients with femoropopliteal lesions.
Methods: From January 2019 to January 2020, DCB angioplasties using Elutax were performed on 53 consecutive patients (53 limbs) with femoropopliteal lesions (group A) and compared with a noncontemporary control group (group B) consisting of 71 patients (71 limbs) treated with plain old balloon angioplasty (POBA) between January 2017 and January 2018. Before performing the angioplasty, both groups underwent clinical examination, ultrasound evaluation, and computed tomography angiography to delineate subject clinical and baseline lesion characteristics.
New alternatives have been under study as treatment due to the problem of multidrug-resistant bacteria. Among them, Wickerhamomyces anomalus mycocins have shown a great potential against several microorganisms since they have high antimicrobial activity, as well as they can be used as fast available nutrients and stand several extreme conditions. In this way, Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemases inhibition by mycocins produced by W.

Retrospective cohort analysis including pregnant women diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 and their newborns both tested for SARS-CoV-2 specific IgG and IgM with antibody titration at delivery. Nasopharyngeal swab were taken from both mothers and neonates, and tested for SARS-CoV-2 using polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

Methods: The Divisions of Vascular Surgery of the southern Italian peninsula joined this multicenter retrospective study. Each received a 13-point questionnaire investigating the hospitalization rate of vascular patients in the first 11 months of the COVID-19 pandemic and in the preceding 11 months.

Methods: five women, between the ages of 32 and 82 years old, were admitted for acute abdomen, and received a nasopharyngeal swab for COVID-19 screening, lab test analysis, and contrast thoraco-abdominal CT-scan. All presented leukocytosis, different localizations of visceral vessels thrombosis and ischemia, and COVID-19.
Mycocins are substances that have the potential to affect other sensitive yeasts or microorganisms. Wickerhamomyces anomalus is a yeast that produces mycocins that have great biotechnological potential, being highly competitive in many habitats, as it is adaptable to a wide range of environmental conditions. Thus, they are targets for studies in different areas, including the environment, industry, and medical sciences.

Higher incidence and mortality can probably be explained by COVID-19 causative agent's greater affinity (about 10-20 times) for angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor compared with other coronaviruses. Here, the authors first summarize clinical manifestations, then present symptoms of COVID-19 and the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying specific organ/system disease.

Methods: One hundred and fifty-six carotid plaques from both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients requiring surgical carotid endarterectomy were retrospectively collected. According to the modified American Heart Association, atherosclerosis plaques have been histologically distinguished into unstable and stable.
Although microRNA-7 (miRNA-7) is known to regulate proliferation of cancer cells by targeting Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR/ERBB) family, less is known about its role in cardiac physiology. Transgenic (Tg) mouse with cardiomyocyte-specific overexpression of miRNA-7 was generated to determine its role in cardiac physiology and pathology. Echocardiography on the miRNA-7 Tg mice showed cardiac dilation instead of age-associated physiological cardiac hypertrophy observed in non-Tg control mice.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the rate of hospitalization and mode of in-hospital treatment of patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) before and during lockdown in the Campania region of Italy. The study population includes all patients with CLTI hospitalized in Campania over a 10-week period: 5 weeks before and 5 weeks during lockdown ( = 453).

Methods And Results: We measured anthropometric parameters, glucose, lipids, inflammation and common carotid Intimal Medial Thickness (cIMT) in rotating-night shift workers (r-NSW, n = 88, age = 40.
