Different chemiluminescence systems based on luminol, permanganate, manganese(IV) and cerium(IV) reagents were compared regarding their sensitivity and selectivity to determine plant polyphenols. Among the seventeen systems tested, Mn(IV)-formaldehyde-hexametaphosphate was considered to be the most suitable for polyphenols detection.
