Article Synopsis
  • - Patients with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) experience lower health-related quality of life (HRQoL), but liver transplantation (LT) improves these patients' quality of life, with 85% reporting enhancements post-surgery.
  • - The study assessed the HRQoL of 26 pre- and post-LT PBC patients, and 107 previously transplanted individuals, using SF-36 and PBC-40 questionnaires, compared to a control group of 60 healthy individuals.
  • - Despite significant improvements noted after LT, PBC patients still show poorer physical and emotional functioning compared to healthy subjects, indicating ongoing challenges in their overall quality of life.
