Effect of a Multi-Ingredient -Based Vaginal Gel in Women with HPV-Dependent Cervical Lesions: The Papilobs Real-Life Prospective Study.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is responsible for virtually all cervical cancers in women. HPV infection and persistency may lead to different-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions that can result in high-grade lesions and cancer. The objective was to prospectively evaluate the results of using a -based vaginal gel (Papilocare) on HPV-dependent low-grade cervical lesion repair in a real-life scenario.

Hysteroscopic myomectomy outcomes after 3-month treatment with either Ulipristal Acetate or GnRH analogues: a retrospective comparative study.

Ulipristal Acetate (UPA) modifies the endometrium, as well as fibroids, and therefore it might make hysteroscopic surgery more difficult. To confirm that pre-treatment with UPA is as safe and effective an option as pre-treatment with GnRH analogues, considered the gold standard. We present the first series of 26 hysteroscopic myomectomies after 3 months treatment with UPA and we compare the results with a series of 24 cases pretreated with GnRH analogues.

Ovulation and extra-ovarian origin of ovarian cancer.

The mortality rate of ovarian cancer remains high due to late diagnosis and recurrence. A fundamental step toward improving detection and treatment of this lethal disease is to understand its origin. A growing number of studies have revealed that ovarian cancer can develop from multiple extra-ovarian origins, including fallopian tube, gastrointestinal tract, cervix and endometriosis.

Primary ovarian cancer is responsive to treatment, but chemoresistant recurrent disease ensues in majority of patients. Recent compelling evidence demonstrates that a specific population of cancer cells, the cancer stem cells, initiates and sustains tumors. It is therefore possible that this cell population is also responsible for recurrence.
