Objective: The aim of this study was to elucidate the impact of pleural lavage cytology positivity on early recurrence in patients operated on non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: This is a multicentre prospective cohort study of 684 patients undergoing an anatomical lung resection for NSCLC between October 2015 and October 2017 at 12 national centres. A pleural lavage was performed before and after lung resection.

Introduction: In February 2022, the Emerging Thoracic Surgery Group of the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery initiated a multicenter study on the surgical management of primary spontaneous pneumothorax (PSP). As a preliminary step, this survey was developed with the aim of finding out the current situation in our country to specify and direct this project.
Method: A descriptive study was carried out based on the results of this survey launched through the Google Docs® platform.
The rotator cuff inflammatory or degenerative pathology is the main cause of shoulder pain. The shoulder and diaphragm muscle have a clear relation through innervation and the connection through myofascial tissue. A prospective, randomized, controlled, single-blind (assessor) pilot clinical trial was performed with a sample size of 27 subjects with rotator cuff injuries and with clinical diagnosis of myofascial pain syndrome at shoulder.

Introduction: To analyse clinicopathological characteristics of patients operated for pulmonary solitary nodule (PSN) and 18F-FDG integrated PET-CT scan after surgical resection.
Methodology: Retrospective study on a prospective database of patients operated from January 2007 to October 2017 for PSN without preoperative diagnosis. Dependent variable was anatomopathological result (benign vs malignant) of PSN.
The objective of this study was to analyze the clinical respiratory and spirometric effects of video-assisted minithoracotomy diaphragmatic plication (VAM-T DP) in the treatment of diaphragmatic eventration. A retrospective longitudinal study of 18 patients who underwent a VAM-T DP in our service between February 2005 and July 2011 was performed. Data of patient characteristics, preoperative clinical variables, and postoperative results (3, 6, and 12 months) were collected for statistical analysis using the software package SPSS 13.
