Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare long-term results for patients born with an anorectal malformation and fecal incontinence treated with a dynamic graciloplasty with those for the total group of patients undergoing dynamic graciloplasty.
Methods: Consecutive patients with fecal incontinence after surgical treatment of anorectal malformation and treated with dynamic graciloplasty were included in this study. Preoperative assessment was performed.
Purpose: Graciloplasty has been used as a treatment for end-stage fecal incontinence since 1946. Electric stimulation with an implantable pulse generator has existed for 15 years. The gracilis muscle is wrapped around the anal canal and stimulated by intramuscular electrodes connected with an implantable pulse generator.
