Introduction: The revised functional autonomy measurement system (SMAF-R) is an outcome measure of activity performance and resource needs. This study aimed to measure the implementability of the SMAF-R as a routine outcome measure in acute and subacute inpatients.
Methods: This was a mixed-methods implementation study.
causes anthrax through virulence factors encoded on two plasmids. However, non- organisms within the closely related, environmentally ubiquitous group (BCG) may cause an anthrax-like disease in humans through the partial adoption of anthrax-associated virulence genes, challenging the definition of anthrax disease. To elucidate these phenomena and their evolutionary past, we performed whole-genome sequencing on non- BCG isolates, including 93 archival (1967-2003) and 5 contemporary isolates (2019-2023).

The feasibility of twice daily therapy was evaluated using a range of outcomes including satisfaction, fidelity and limited efficacy.

The aim of this study was to identify persistent symptoms (fatigue, cognition, quality of life, anxiety, depression and physical measures) in unvaccinated community-managed patients following COVID-19 infection.
Method: This was a prospective nested observational study of health and wellbeing measures determined seven and 13 months after COVID-19 infection, alongside physical abilities after 18 months.
In South Asia, young people face myriad challenges and opportunities regarding their sexual lives relating to varied experiences of norms and restrictions; gender norms and socio-sexual taboos limit communication around sexual health which in turn can affect sexual health outcomes. In this article we focus on norms affecting young people's sexual health experiences in urban settings in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Pakistan. We conducted a scoping review of peer reviewed empirical studies based on qualitative data pertaining to young people's experiences of sexuality and sexual health in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Pakistan.

November 2023
Background: One in five women in the UK are survivors of rape and sexual assault, and four in five women will give birth. This implies that a substantial number of women experience rape and sexual assault before pregnancy. We highlight and explore the voices and lived experiences of survivors during pregnancy and birth, to better understand the relationship between sexual violence, biomedicine, and pregnancy and to inform maternity care practice.

Those in key worker jobs were often from more marginalised communities, including migrant workers in precarious employment. Recognising space as materially and socially produced, this qualitative study explores migrant workers' experiences of navigating COVID-19 risks at work and its impacts on their home spaces.

Design: Quasi-experimental mixed-methods design nested within the 'REStORing health of acutely unwell adulTs' (RESORT) prospective, observational, longitudinal cohort of geriatric rehabilitation inpatients study.
Setting: Geriatric rehabilitation wards in a major metropolitan public hospital between June 2019 and March 2020.
Small mammal species play an important role influencing vegetation primary productivity and plant species composition, seed dispersal, soil structure, and as predator and/or prey species. Species which experience population dynamics cycles can, at high population phases, heavily impact agricultural sectors and promote rodent-borne disease transmission. To better understand the drivers behind small mammal distributions and abundances, and how these differ for individual species, it is necessary to characterise landscape variables important for the life cycles of the species in question.

Carer Support Needs Assessment Tool-Intervention (CSNAT-I) has shown promise in supporting carers' needs in this context. This study aimed to explore patient and carers experiences with and views on the acceptability of the CSNAT-I delivered by occupational therapists in an acute oncology setting.

Methods: We used a participatory, qualitative design, including wide consultations, in-depth interviews with 45 individuals from Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller, communities (32 female, 13 male), dialogue sessions, and observations, in five locations across England between October 2021 and February 2022.
Individuals were asked to play an active role in infection control in the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet while government messages emphasised taking responsibility for the public good (e.g.

The global movement of humans and animals can introduce into nonendemic regions of the United States, where environmental conditions could allow establishment of the organism. Approximately 60% of NHPs imported into the United States originate in countries considered endemic for melioidosis.

This is particularly evident in countries such as Bangladesh where the rights of sexual minorities are not recognised. This article looks at queer lived experiences of sexuality and sexual health within such a context.

Disparities in uptake of routine screening therefore translate into disparities in cervical cancer incidence and outcomes. Transmasculine people including transgender men experience multiple barriers to cervical screening and their uptake of screening is low compared with cisgender women.

Although carers are critical to enabling these transitions, they report high levels of unmet need. A review of the interventions to assist these care transitions, along with understanding those intervention components and mechanisms that support carers of people with advanced illness, is required to inform an optimal care model for palliative care practice.

The approach was demonstrated for thick oil slicks from natural seeps in the Coal Oil Point seep field, offshore southern California. Airborne thermal infrared and visible spectrum remote sensing imagery were acquired along with position and orientation data by the SeaSpires™ science package.

However, there is little published evidence of this in the aged rehabilitation setting. This study aims to explore the association between intensity of occupational therapy interventions and functional outcomes in geriatric rehabilitation inpatients.
