[Elements of the Political Professional Project of the Brazilian Graduate Nurses National Association present in the Annaes de Enfermagem].

The journal Annaes de Enfermagem was created to publish ideas, concepts, results of scientific production, reflections and, mainly to expose the Political Professional Project of the Associagao Nacional de Enfermeiras Diplomadas Brasileiras (Brazilian Graduate Nurses National Association). This study aimed at describing and characterizing that elements as they were present in the referred journal in the periodo from 1932 up to 1941. This is a qualitative study based on the historical method.

[Analysing the content of the section "Students' page" of the Annaes de Enfermagem].

The joumal Annaes de Enfermagem was a publishing vehicle to discuss health problems and to evidence the professional role. The section "Students Page" was created for the motivation of students to expose their ideas and to focus in relevant points of the nurse education by that time. This study aimed at describing and analysing the content of the published material in the period from 1932 to 1941.

New findings of Neurospora in Europe and comparisons of diversity in temperate climates on continental scales.

The life cycles of the conidiating species of Neurospora are adapted to respond to fire, which is reflected in their natural history. Neurospora is found commonly on burned vegetation from the tropic and subtropical regions around the world and through the temperate regions of western North America. In temperate Europe it was unknown whether Neurospora would be as common as it is in North America because it has been reported only occasionally.

A Web-based platform for nursing monographs publishing.

Nursing students at Faculty of Nursing, University of Santo Amaro-Brazil, develop monographic study by the end of graduation. This study aims to describe the development process of a web site to make available monographs full-text. Materials were organized according to year of deliver, professor name, and by research area.

Gene expression patterns of the ALP family during zebrafish development.

The actinin-associated LIM protein (ALP) genes belong to the PDZ/LIM protein family which is characterized by the presence of both a PDZ and a LIM domain. The ALP subfamily in mammals has four members: ALP, Elfin, Mystique and RIL. In this study, we have annotated and cloned the zebrafish ALP gene family and identified a zebrafish-specific fifth member of the family, the alp-like gene.

Zebrafish cypher is important for somite formation and heart development.

Mammalian CYPHER (Oracle, KIA0613), a member of the PDZ-LIM family of proteins (Enigma/LMP-1, ENH, ZASP/Cypher, RIL, ALP, and CLP-36), has been associated with cardiac and muscular myopathies. Targeted deletion of Cypher in mice is neonatal lethal possibly caused by myopathies. To further investigate the role of cypher in development, we have cloned the zebrafish orthologue.

[Quality of life of the puerpera].

When the baby is born, the woman's body suffers serious endocrine changes, and her reproductive system resumes its non-pregnant condition. The family structure and parent's roles change and the fact that the baby needs to be taken care of means that new, repetitive and tiring chores come up. This study is intended to give a general knowledge of the puerpera's quality of life and of the factors that may influence it.

Isolation of Besnoitia besnoiti from infected cattle in Portugal.

Besnoitia besnoiti, an obligate intracellular protozoan parasite belonging to the phylum apicomplexa, is the causative agent of bovine besnoitiosis. Besnoitiosis is responsible for significant losses in the cattle industry of Africa and Mediterranean countries due to the high morbidity rate, abortion and infertility in males. The acute stage of disease is associated with the proliferative forms (tachyzoites) and is characterized by fever, whimpery, general weakness and swelling of the superficial lymph nodes.

[Nursing interventions for the most frequent complications during hemodialysis procedure: literature review].

Hemodialysis procedure has potential complications and nurses must be able to intervent on them. Considering this context, this article aims to describe the most frequent hemodialysis-related complications as well as nursing-related interventions. This bibliographic review consists in LILACS, BDENF and MEDLINE search using pertinent descriptors.

Mutational spectrum of cystic fibrosis patients from Córdoba province and its zone of influence: implications of molecular diagnosis in Argentina.

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is an autosomal recessive disorder affecting 1/2000-4000 newborns in Caucasian populations. This lethal disease mainly affects respiratory and digestive organs as well as fertility in man. So far, the CF prevalence and mutational spectrum have showed specificity among populations and regions, making it necessary to establish them in each one.

Feeding-facilitating techniques for the nursing infant with Robin sequence.

Respiratory chain complex I of the fungus Neurospora crassa contains at least 39 polypeptide subunits, of which 35 are conserved in mammals. The 11.5 kDa and 14 kDa proteins, homologues of bovine IP15 and B16.

[Robin sequence: a single treatment protocol].

Objective: To present a single protocol that might cover both the respiratory and feeding difficulties of neonates and infants with Robin sequence.

Sources Of Data: The article was prepared on the basis of the most recent publications available in bibliographic databases and in books that discuss the treatment of Robin sequence, especially the studies conducted at the Hospital for Rehabilitation of Craniofacial Anomalies of Universidade de São Paulo (HRAC/USP).

Summary Of The Findings: We present the morphological and genetic aspects of Robin sequence and concepts about nasopharyngoscopy and its clinical implications; we discuss the treatment of respiratory and feeding difficulties, and we present a single protocol for the treatment of all Robin sequence cases regardless of their severity and complexity.

Growth of children with isolated Robin sequence treated by nasopharyngeal intubation: importance of a hypercaloric diet.

Objective: To compare the growth curves (weight and length) of two groups of infants with isolated Robin sequence (RS) treated with nasopharyngeal intubation (NPI), one group receiving a hypercaloric diet and the other receiving a normal diet for age, and compare the growth rates and duration of NPI between the two groups.
