Background: The aim was to investigate the effects of 12 and 24 weeks of interdisciplinary interventions on health-related physical fitness, biochemical markers, and food processing levels in overweight or obese adolescents.
Methods: Thirty-one adolescents completed 24 weeks of nutritional, psychoeducational, and physical activity interventions in addition to assessments and tests carried out before, at 12 weeks, and after 24 weeks.
Results: There were increases in lean mass ( = 0.
Research indicates that children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) exhibit a deficiency in skills and initiative when it comes to adhering to daily oral hygiene routines. This, in turn, increases the likelihood of oral pathologies, thereby placing a significant emotional strain on their parents. In addition to the typical stress they already experience, parents of children with ASD are also burdened with pediatric oral health issues.

This study aimed to evaluate the influence of zirconia implant macrogeometry and bone density on primary implant stability. Two types of zirconia implants were tested-the Neodent Zi Ceramic Implant and the Straumann PURE Ceramic Implant, that were placed into polyurethane foam blocks mimicking different bone densities (10 PCF, 15 PCF, 20 PCF, 30 PCF, and 40 PCF).

It exhibits remarkable activity and stability, maintaining its performance over extended periods (up to 8 hours) and achieving significant reductions in total organic carbon (TOC = 80%). Importantly, microbiological assays confirmed that this degradation process effectively converts trimethoprim into non-resistance-inducing products.

Introduction: The effectiveness of nonsurgical periodontal treatment is related to patient- and tooth-related factors. To overcome the limitations of the conventional approach, probiotics are one of the adjunct therapies that have been studied.
Objectives: This umbrella review answered the focused question: in adult patients with periodontal diseases or peri-implant diseases, does the use of probiotic therapy as an adjuvant to nonsurgical periodontal treatment when compared with nonsurgical periodontal treatment alone affect treatment effectiveness and clinical disease parameters?
Methods: A systematic electronic search to identify systematic reviews according to PICOS criteria, defined a priori, was used, and 5 electronic databases were searched (Medline, LILACS, Cochrane Central Registry of Controlled Trials, Google Scholar, and DANS EASY).
The CYGNO experiment aims to build a large ( m ) directional detector for rare event searches, such as nuclear recoils (NRs) induced by dark matter (DM), such as weakly interactive massive particles (WIMPs). The detector concept comprises a time projection chamber (TPC), filled with a He:CF 60/40 scintillating gas mixture at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, equipped with an amplification stage made of a stack of three gas electron multipliers (GEMs) which are coupled to an optical readout. The latter consists in scientific CMOS (sCMOS) cameras and photomultipliers tubes (PMTs).

Problem: Comparing health policy measures before elections and identifying potential gaps in the health policy debate can be challenging.
Approach: We explored the use of the Health System Performance Assessment for Universal Health Coverage framework to analyse health policy proposals by classifying health policy measures outlined in political manifestos into four health system functions: governance, financing, resource generation and service delivery. As a case study, we analysed the political manifestos of all Portuguese parties with parliamentary representation ahead of the election in March 2024.
Episodic consumption of high doses of alcohol in a short period (binge drinking - BD) among adolescents is known to be harmful to their brain development. Chronic use of taurine increases voluntary alcohol consumption and shows an anxiolytic-like effect in rats. In this study, we evaluated the differential effects of chronic and intermittent taurine administration on alcohol consumption and behavioral changes in adolescent and young adult rats subjected to the BD model.

Background/objectives: Considering the diverse symptomatology of COVID-19-ranging from mild to severe cases-multi-professional interventions are crucial for enhancing physical recovery, nutritional status, and mental health outcomes in affected patients. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the effects of such an intervention on health-related physical fitness and biomarkers in overweight COVID-19 survivors with varying degrees of symptom severity after 8 weeks and 16 weeks.
Methods: This non-randomized clinical trial included 59 overweight COVID-19 survivors (32 males and 27 females) divided into three groups: mild ( 31), moderate ( 13), and severe/critical ( 15).
Background: Menezes et al. describe their experience with the diagnosis and management of disruptive medical staff behavior in a private hospital between 2020 and 2022. Surgical medical specialties were found to demonstrate the highest prevalence of such behavior, and continual education of physicians regarding appropriate workplace behavior was found to be the most important management strategy to prevent unsafe work environments and strengthen an appropriate culture of safety.

Method: this is a prospective cohort study of 157 critically ill surgical patients. Fisher's exact test and Chi-square test were used for the association between factors and the occurrence of delirium, the Wilcoxon test for numerical variables, and the logistic regression model for the analysis of predisposing and precipitating factors.
Antipsychotic medications are essential when treating schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders, but the efficacy and tolerability of these medications vary from person to person. This interindividual variation is likely mediated, at least in part, by epigenomic processes that have yet to be fully elucidated. Herein, we systematically identified and evaluated 65 studies that examine the influence of antipsychotic drugs on epigenomic changes, including global methylation (9 studies), genome-wide methylation (22 studies), candidate gene methylation (16 studies), and histone modification (18 studies).

Some nutrients, such as the amino acid l-arginine, are added to maternal diets to modulate gene expression, improve the reproductive performance of females, and enhance conceptus development. This study investigated the hypothesis that supplementation of pregnant gilts with l-arginine regulates gene expression in conceptuses through epigenetic mechanisms.
