Purpose: This article describes a community-based hospital's policy for the management of patients with medical implanted electronic devices other than pacemakers or implanted cardiac defibrillators (ICDs). The policy may be adapted as needed for other radiation oncology groups requiring a practical solution for managing the care of patients with implanted devices, noting the need for changes for departments offering proton, neutron, heavy ion, or magnetic resonance-guided linear accelerator (MR-linac) treatment modalities.

Methods And Materials: The policy was developed using a risk-based approach, with each patient's risk level determined based on the patient's dependence on the device, the anticipated dose to the device, and the type of treatment used.

Dissociative episode and panic attacks triggered by pitolisant in a narcoleptic patient.

Pitolisant is a histamine 3-receptor antagonist/inverse agonist effective and safe for the treatment of excessive daytime sleepiness and cataplexy in narcolepsy. We report a 19-year-old woman affected by narcolepsy type 1 who presented panic attacks and dissociative symptoms induced by pitolisant. The patient medical history was unremarkable except that for familiarity for anxiety disorder and chronic insomnia.

When appropriate, however, behavioral research of this nature may benefit from the use of methods that allow for remote data collection outside of the lab. The two-visual stream hypothesis posits that the dorsal stream is less susceptible than the ventral stream to the effects of illusions and visual priming. While previous studies have separately examined these perceptual manipulations, the present study combined the effects of a visual illusion and priming to examine the possibility of dorsally guided actions being susceptible to the perceptual stimuli due to interactions between the two streams. Thirty-four participants were primed with a 'long' or 'short' version of the Sander Parallelogram illusion and were asked to either reach out and grasp or manually estimate the length of a rod placed on a version of the illusion that was on some trials the same as the prime (congruent) and on other trials was the inverse (incongruent).
