Digital tools to support informed decision making among screening invitees in a vulnerable position for population-based cancer screening: A scoping review.

Background: Individuals in a vulnerable position are generally less inclined to participate in population-based cancer screening. Digital tools, such as educational videos, narratives or decision aids, show promise in reaching and informing these invitees by tailoring information needs based on their preferences. This review aims to provide an overview of design features and reported outcomes of digital tools intended to support informed decision making among screening invitees in a vulnerable position.

The differences between adults and adolescents using a mobile health application for menstrual complaints: A usability and qualitative study.

Background: A "Menstruatie Educatie Kalender" application (Menstruation Education Calendar, (MEK-APP)) was developed for adults to evaluate menstrual complaints. The future aim of this app is to use it as a self-diagnostic instrument for menstrual abnormalities for both adults and adolescents. Early identification of the potential of an application for future use by both user groups would increase implementation success and adoption of the application.

Preferences of young adults on the development of a new digital add-on alcohol intervention for depression treatment: A qualitative study.

Aim: To explore the preferences of young adults with regard to the development of a new digital add-on alcohol intervention to complement depression treatment.

Methods: This qualitative study included young adults (18-35 years) with experience of either problematic alcohol use or depression or both ( = 29). Two rounds of focus groups were conducted, with two focus groups in each round.

Background: Smoking prevalence during and after pregnancy remains high among socioeconomically disadvantaged women. Mobile health (mHealth) apps with game and social support elements seem promising to support smoking cessation.

Women's Participation in Decision-Making in Maternity Care: A Qualitative Exploration of Clients' Health Literacy Skills and Needs for Support.

Shared decision-making requires adequate functional health literacy (HL) skills from clients to understand information, as well as interactive and critical HL skills to obtain, appraise and apply information about available options. This study aimed to explore women's HL skills and needs for support regarding shared decision-making in maternity care. In-depth interviews were held among women in Dutch maternity care who scored low ( = 10) and high ( = 13) on basic health literacy screening test(s).

Barriers experienced by nurses providing smoking cessation support to disadvantaged, young women during and after pregnancy.

In Europe, smoking during and after pregnancy is still highly prevalent among socioeconomically disadvantaged women. Nurses caring for these women can play a key role in smoking cessation, but encounter many problems when providing support. This research aims to identify barriers in providing smoking cessation support, experienced by nurses working within a Dutch preventive care programme for disadvantaged young women (VoorZorg), and to understand the underlying reasons of these barriers.
