Background: Anterior hip pain after total hip replacement (THR) can be caused by iliopsoas impingement (IPI). Validation of CT measured cup version is well published; however quantification of the anterior cup prominence has not been validated. Therefore, we did an in vitro study aiming to: (1) assess the accuracy of the current method of measuring the prominence of the acetabular component using a dry bone model; (2) develop a CT protocol based on bony anatomical landmarks that improves the accuracy of these measurements.

Background: The current practice in elective orthopaedics does not routinely include psychological interventions despite evidence that psychological factors such as personality, anxiety, depression and negative thinking styles can influence outcomes and recovery from surgery. The objective of this paper was to review the effectiveness of psychological interventions used in conjunction with total hip (THA) and knee arthroplasty (TKA), in improving patient reported joint outcomes.
Methods: An extensive literature search was conducted according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.
Unlabelled: Adequate exposure is fundamental to safely and correctly perform open procedures around the knee. Tibial tubercle osteotomy (TTO) has previously been described as a method to improve exposure, particularly in complex primary elective knee arthroplasty or revision surgery. We describe a tibial tubercle osteotomy technique to improve exposure in complex knee fractures and a cadaveric study and trauma case series.

Methods: Sixteen composite tibiae were used for the fracture model and a complete articular fracture of the proximal tibia (AO 41.C2) was performed.
