Transfusion of platelet concentrates (PC) can be a life-saving measure in case of severe thrombocytopenia or thrombocytopathy, particularly in bleeding patients. Although acaryote, platelets are involved in several important functions including immunomodulation, but their most important function is in primary and secondary haemostasis. In this German review, apheresis and whole blood derived PC are compared and indications as well as transfusion triggers and dosage of PC are discussed.

Background: Clinical experiences using a psychosomatic-oriented multimodal treatment approach in patients with post-COVID are promising. How can detector click probabilities respond to spatial rotations around a fixed axis, in any possible physical theory? Here, we give a thorough mathematical analysis of this question in terms of "rotation boxes", which are analogous to the well-known notion of non-local boxes. We prove that quantum theory admits the most general rotational correlations for spins 0, 1/2, and 1, but we describe a metrological game where beyond-quantum resources of spin 3/2 outperform all quantum resources of the same spin. We prove a multitude of fundamental results about these correlations, including an exact convex characterization of the spin-1 correlations, a Tsirelson-type inequality for spins 3/2 and higher, and a proof that the general spin- correlations provide an efficient outer SDP approximation to the quantum set.

2',3'-Cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP) is a cyclic dinucleotide second messenger in which guanosine and adenosine are connected by one 3'-5' and one 2'-5' phosphodiester linkage. It is formed in the cytosol upon detection of pathogenic DNA by the enzyme guanosine-monophosphate-adenosine monophosphate synthase (cGAS). cGAMP subsequently binds to the adaptor protein stimulator of interferon genes (STING) to elicit an innate immune response leading to the production of type I interferons and cytokines.

In this study, we analyze magnetoencephalographic (MEG) recordings from 48 clinically healthy subjects obtained from the Human Connectome Project (HCP) while they performed a working memory task and a motor task. Our results reveal a well-developed, stable interrelation pattern that spans the entire scalp and is nearly universal, being almost task- and subject-independent. The accurate identification and prioritization of antigenic peptides is crucial for the development of personalized cancer immunotherapies. Publicly available pipelines to predict clinical neoantigens do not allow direct integration of mass spectrometry immunopeptidomics data, which can uncover antigenic peptides derived from various canonical and noncanonical sources. To address this, we present an end-to-end clinical proteogenomic pipeline, called NeoDisc, that combines state-of-the-art publicly available and in-house software for immunopeptidomics, genomics and transcriptomics with in silico tools for the identification, prediction and prioritization of tumor-specific and immunogenic antigens from multiple sources, including neoantigens, viral antigens, high-confidence tumor-specific antigens and tumor-specific noncanonical antigens.

The development of liquid biopsy as a minimally invasive technique for tumor profiling has created a need for efficient biomarker extraction systems from body fluids. We present the mean field solution of the quantum and classical Heisenberg spin glasses, using the combination of a high precision numerical solution of the Parisi full replica symmetry breaking equations and a continuous time quantum Monte Carlo algorithm. We characterize the spin glass order and its low-energy excitations down to zero temperature. The Heisenberg spin glass has a rougher energy landscape than its Ising analog, and exhibits a very slow temperature evolution of its dynamical properties.

Results of a prospective study of stage-adapted treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-associated Hodgkin lymphoma (HIV-HL) showed a 2-year overall survival (OS) of 90.7% with no significant difference between early favorable (EF), early unfavorable (EU), and advanced HL. Patients with EF HIV-HL received two to four cycles of doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine (ABVD) + 30 Gy involved field (IF) radiation, those with EU HIV-HL received four cycles of ABVD or BEACOPP (bleomycin, etoposide, doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, procarbazine, and prednisone) baseline + 30 Gy IF, and six to eight cycles of BEACOPP baseline were administered in advanced disease.

Detecting determinism and nonlinear properties from empirical time series is highly nontrivial. Traditionally, nonlinear time series analysis is based on an error-prone phase space reconstruction that is only applicable for stationary, largely noise-free data from a low-dimensional system and requires the nontrivial adjustment of various parameters.
