Midwifery in Dalmatia was highly undeveloped at the beginning of the XIX century. The health report from 1813 suggested that there were only 48 midwives in the whole province, and none of them with a degree from the midwifery school. After abolishing the Central Schools ("Ecoles Centrales"), which were founded at the time of French reign, and which had the university range, the professors who stayed in Zadar continued their work and teaching in the Midwifery School, which was founded in 1820 according to the decision made by Emperor Franz I, and started working in 1821.

In this paper is presented the first original document of the delivery of conjoined twins on the territory of the present-day Vojvodina. The document number 1224 consists of two handwritten quires. On the first page of the first quire are a description and a drawing of the delivered twins.

This paper presents the surgical treatment of invasive cancer of the vulva at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics inNovi Sad in the period from 2000 to 2010. Forty-one patients underwent different surgical procedures depending on their stage of the disease, age and general physical condition assessed according to the International Federation of Gynecologists and Obstetricians: wide excision to the healthy area with negative edges of 10 mm, simplex--radical vulvectomy or hemivulvectomy, block dissection of the vulva by Way, one-sided or bilateral lymphadenectomy and skin-muscle flap to cover the resulting skin defects. The number of removed lymph nodes on one side ranged from 8 to 19, the average being 12.

The study reviews the surgical treatment results of urinary stress incontinence in the group of 51 female patients, in whom the tension-free transvaginal tape was placed beneath the middle part of urethra using obturator approach during the period from 2005 to 2009. The method of surgery applied in all patients was obturator approach ("inside-out" method sec. de Leval), using a synthetic tension-free transvaginal prolen tape.

Introduction: CA 125 determination started in 1981, when Bast et al. discovered monoclonal antibody OC-125 belonging to immunoglobulin G class (IgG1) using Köhler and Milstein's technique of hybridization. Unlabelled: The aim, of this prospective study was to estimate whether the presence of endometrial fluid detected by transvaginal ultrasound investigation was a marker for the pathological changes of the endometrium in postmenopausal women.

Material And Methods: 128 postmenopausal women with uterine bleeding and 29 asymptomatic postmenopausal women underwent transvaginal ultrasound investigation, curettage and histopathological investigation of the curettage specimens.

Results: There were significantly more asymptomatic women with endometrial fluid collection was found (41,4%) than those with uterine bleeding (7,8%) (p<0,001).

Introduction: The vaginal vault prolapse after hysterectomy is a complex disorder, which can be associated with the prolapse of anterior or posterior vaginal wall or cystorectocele. The exact incidence is unknown, and is within the range from 1 - 43% of operated patients. In order to achieve the complete surgical reconstruction of the pelvic floor disorder, a surgeon must have good knowledge of normal anatomic relations of pelvic organs.
