A four-dimensional phase-contrast magnetic resonance imaging sequence with respiratory-controlled adaptive k-space reordering (ReCAR-4DPC) offers potential benefits of improved scan efficiency and motion robustness. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reproducibility of flow measurement using this technique and to compare hemodynamic metrics obtained to two-dimensional phase contrast MRI (2DPC)-derived metrics of the thoracic aorta. ReCAR-4DPC was performed with identical scan parameters in 15 healthy volunteers (6M,9F, mean [range] 37 [23-47] years) and 11 patients with thoracic aortic dissection (6M,5F, 56 [31-81] years) and acquisition time was recorded.

Radiological incidental findings (IFs) are previously undetected abnormalities which are unrelated to the original indication for imaging and are unexpectedly discovered. In brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the prevalence of IFs is increasing. By reviewing the literature on IFs in brain MRI performed for research purposes and discussing ethical considerations of IFs, this paper provides an overview of brain IF research results and factors contributing to inconsistencies and considers how the consent process can be improved from an ethical perspective.

An has been shown to have the potential to differentiate intracranial aneurysm (IA) rupture status. The objective of this study is to investigate the feasibility and accuracy of An for IA rupture status prediction using Australian based clinical data.

High-frequency optical coherence tomography (HF-OCT) is an emerging imaging modality for the assessment, treatment and follow-up of cerebral aneurysms. EMBASE and SCOPUS databases were searched for studies relating to the management of intracranial aneurysm with OCT.

This study used Bayesian analyses to test this hypothesis in multiple sequences (units) of sandy, weakly stratified sediments at Wakulla Springs, Florida.

The lack of physical evidence for the presence of extinct megafauna begs the question, did early Paleoamericans regularly hunt or scavenge these animals, or were some megafauna already extinct? In this study of 120 Paleoamerican stone tools from across North and South Carolina, we investigate this question using crossover immunoelectrophoresis (CIEP). We find immunological support for the exploitation of extant and extinct megafauna, including Proboscidea, Equidae, and Bovidae (possibly Bison antiquus), on Clovis points and scrapers, as well as possible early Paleoamerican Haw River points.

Even without visible hyperattenuation, occult angiographic contrast may persist in the brain and confound Hounsfield unit-based imaging metrics, such as net water uptake (NWU).
Aims: We aimed to assess the presence and factors associated with retained contrast post-thrombectomy on 24-h imaging using dual-energy CT (DECT), and its impact on the accuracy of NWU as a measure of cerebral edema.
Background: Deep learning (DL) algorithms are playing an increasing role in automatic medical image analysis.
Purpose: To evaluate the performance of a DL model for the automatic detection of intracranial haemorrhage and its subtypes on non-contrast CT (NCCT) head studies and to compare the effects of various preprocessing and model design implementations.
Methods: The DL algorithm was trained and externally validated on open-source, multi-centre retrospective data containing radiologist-annotated NCCT head studies.
Aim: To assess the safety and utility of tranexamic acid (TXA) as an adjunct salvage therapy in iatrogenic vessel perforation complicating endovascular clot retrieval. Iatrogenic vessel perforation and extravasation are known and potentially fatal complications of endovascular clot retrieval (ECR). Various methods of establishing haemostasis post perforation have been reported.

Diagnosis and localisation of spinal CSF leaks remain difficult despite multiple imaging modalities that can be used to aid identification. These include traditional CT myelography and MRI as well as newer techniques such as dynamic and digital subtraction myelography.

For patients requiring endovascular thrombectomy (EVT), the transfer times from peripheral hospitals in metropolitan and regional Victoria, Australia to comprehensive stroke centres (CSCs) have not been studied.
Aims: To determine transfer and journey times for patients with LVO stroke being transferred for consideration of EVT.
Background: Healthcare waste contributes substantially to the world's carbon footprint. Our aims are to review the current knowledge of Interventional Radiology (IR) waste generation and ways of reducing waste in practice, to quantify the environmental and financial impact of waste generated and address green initiatives to improve IR waste management.
Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted in July 2022 using the Medline and Embase literature databases.

Objectives: Better tools are needed for risk assessment of Type B aortic dissection (TBAD) to determine optimal treatment for patients with uncomplicated disease. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has the potential to inform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for TBAD by providing individualised quantification of haemodynamic parameters, for assessment of complication risks. This systematic review aims to present an overview of MRI applications for CFD studies of TBAD.

Rectal artery embolisation (RAE) is a recently described technique for the management of HD, however, its clinical efficacy and safety are unclear at present. The objective of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to evaluate the clinical outcomes following RAE.

Intracranial atherosclerotic disease is highly prevalent and a common cause of ischaemic stroke globally. With the increasing use of endovascular treatment for acute stroke management, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging have become an essential part of patient selection. In this review, we present the typical imaging findings of intracranial atherosclerosis and an overview of management as relevant to diagnostic and interventional radiologists.

In this proof-of-concept paper we (a) examine whether WiFi fingerprinting is a feasible machine learning (ML)-based real-time location system (RTLS) technology that can provide accurate real-time location information within a hospital setting, and (b) hypothesize its potential application in streamlining acute stroke endovascular intervention.
Methods: We conducted our study in a comprehensive stroke care unit in Melbourne, Australia that offers a 24-hour mechanical thrombectomy service.
Purpose: Low-profile, self-expandable stents have broadened therapeutic options available for definitive treatment of intracranial aneurysms. The novel Low-Profile Visualized Intraluminal Support (LVIS) EVO stent extends upon the success of its predecessor, the LVIS Jr stent, aiming to enable higher visibility and greater opening ability within a self-expandable and fully retrievable microstent system. In this study, we aim to report the early safety and feasibility experience with the LVIS EVO stent.

While usually well-tolerated by patients, endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms carries the risk of complications, with procedure-related ischemic complications being the most common. Several antiplatelet agents have been studied in a neurointerventional setting for both prophylaxis and in the setting of intraprocedural thrombotic complications.
