Venous thromboembolism (VTE) rarely occurs during childhood and, with few exceptions, should be considered as a disease of sick children. Current recommendations concerning the duration of anticoagulant treatment for paediatric VTE are essentially based on the results of clinical trials conducted in adults. Yet the underlying medical conditions, incidence, and anatomical locations of the disease, as well as the rates of unprovoked VTE, morbidity, and mortality, differ between adults and children.

An accurate diagnosis of lower limb deep vein thrombosis (DVT) recurrence is mandatory. The diagnosis is difficult and has not been well investigated. Our objective was to define the role of clinical probability assessment, D-dimer assay, venous ultrasound and other imaging methods in the diagnosis of this condition based on a review of published data.

Article Synopsis
  • Obesity is a global health problem, defined by a body mass index (BMI) of 30kg/m² or higher, and increases the risk of blood clots and their recurrence.
  • * Obese individuals are frequently prescribed anticoagulant therapy to manage these risks, but there is limited research from randomized control trials on this topic.
  • * This narrative review will explore the current guidelines and practices regarding anticoagulant use for preventing and treating venous thromboembolism (VTE) in obese patients.

Superficial vein thrombosis (SVT), a manifestation of venous thromboembolism (VTE), is a common condition, yet of all the types of VTE, it has been the least well studied. Recent studies have challenged the conception that SVT is a benign disease, showing that its risk factors overlap with those of deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) and that it is frequently associated with DVT or pulmonary embolism (PE). In 2010, the CALISTO trial demonstrated the benefit of treatment with fondaparinux at the dose of 2.

Objective: COVID-19 patients may develop coagulopathy, which is associated with poor prognosis and high risk of thrombosis. The main objective of this work was to evaluate the prevalence of deep venous thrombosis of lower limbs (DVT) through ultrasonography in patients infected with COVID-19 admitted to conventional units at our hospital with 5 days of monitoring. The secondary objective was to determine if D-dimer levels, body mass index, and C-reactive protein were associated with DVT.

Antiphospholipid (aPL) antibodies can arise transiently at times of viral diseases. The objective of this work was to evaluate the incidence of aPL antibodies in patients hospitalized in conventional unit for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection and confirmed venous thromboembolic events (VTE) associated with aPL antibodies. 41 patients infected with COVID-19 were tested for aPL antibodies.

Introduction And Objectives: Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing evidence suggests that infected patients present a high incidence of venous thromboembolic (VTE) events and elevated aminotransferases (AT).The objective of this work was to evaluate the incidence of aminotransferases disorders in patients infected with COVID-19 and to manage the VTE events associated with elevated AT.

Patients Or Materials And Methods: We report a retrospective study of 46 patients admitted for COVID-19 infection.

Purpose: Our purpose was to evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic value of skeletal textural features (TFs) on baseline FDG PET in diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients.

Methods: Eighty-two patients with DLBCL who underwent a bone marrow biopsy (BMB) and a PET scan between December 2008 and December 2015 were included. Two readers blinded to the BMB results visually assessed PET images for bone marrow involvement (BMI) in consensus, and a third observer drew a volume of interest (VOI) encompassing the axial skeleton and the pelvis, which was used to assess skeletal TFs.
